World erupts as Novak Djokovic learns his fate over visa cancellation

The Australian government has been slammed for its handling of the Novak Djokovic saga following the news he will be deported and will miss the Australian Open.

Djokovic wasn’t helped by the fact that there’s already a pre-existing dislike of him from much of the Australian public. Some of it self-inflicted on his behalf.

We all have our opinions on this and I'm more certain now than when I first posted it, this has all been for political advantage by the Federal government. They let a player and official in to the country on exact same exemption and grounds as Djokovic, then once they worked out they could gain a political edge over it, booted those 2 out of the country and cancelled NDs visa on arrival.

This has literally nothing to do with the health or order of Australia. News flash, over 700,000 known covid cases in the past week, hundreds of deaths, thousands in hospital, hundreds in ICU, lack of rat tests, shortage of health staff to care for everyone, etc. That's what the real problem is here.

Djokovic being allowed to stay and play would have caused no person any harm. He's had covid twice, got through it without issues both times. But the government weren't happy that Djokovic made them look bad by appealing in court and winning, so they drag this decision out as long as they can to give Djokovic as little time as possible to appeal before the tournament. Just releasing it at prime time news bulletin of 6pm Friday. But no it's not political at all.

Great that the government has protected us here.
