Still 4 clubs without a coach and its starting to get into the period where everyone switches off footy for a bit.

For the clubs still looking for a coach they could do a lot worse than former Basin coach Justin Stanton who just took Nar Nar Goon to a flag (only their second premiership since 1980) and somehow didn't keep his job. Told that the coach was given some advice mid year that the club expected to be doing better (they were 3rd on the ladder at the time). Coach informed power brokers he thought they would be right and had some players coming back form injury. Coach was right, won the flag but club were sheepish about reappointment. Told he offered his resignation last week to see if they would blink, and they accepted it. Fair to say hasn't gone down well with comments turned off their facebook page. Suspicion is they didn't expect to win and had already signed someone for next year

Justin was certainly given the ultimatum mid year by certain people at Nar Nar Goon FNC who should have kept their thoughts to themselves. He is an excellent coach as seen by the premiership in the very competitive West Gippsland FNL and what he achieved at The Basin FNC who gave him his first opportunity as a senior coach and is highly regarded there.

He was on thin ice with certain people and the club talked to a potential replacement.

Nar Nar Goon had done nothing for years so to win the flag was a magnificent effort.

There will be an exodus of players leaving the club as a result. Some unhappy people around with his departure up the highway to Officer FNC in 2025.

Not coaching officer mate. They have just appointed a new coach and it isn’t Stanton.

To wide,cricket /football clubs bring the boundaries in any way and watching game from the west side of the ground hard to see when in front of scoreboard.With the ground upgrade should have brought the fence in 15/20 metres on the eastern side and made room for spectator area or even more car parking on that side of the ground.Removal of grand stand another bad move for footy but the biggest especially for EFNL footy if the wish is a Premier grand Final there I would think is the Ringwood Cricket Club.

Speaking to people in the div 3 finals, it is too big to watch a game. the grandstand side if limited with space to watch whereas Bayswater you can easily watch it. The surface is in imacculate condition but the ground is on a massive slope.
Bayswater copped massive amounts of rain which it didn't improve. Maybe the efnl need to assist the council on getting it re-surfaced.

More importantly I think what is happening at Boronia should be happening at Bayswater as well.The visitors rooms are ordinary and the social rooms need updating but can not see it happening in the short term.Long term I like East Burwood if their rooms are going to be updated and their ground surface is currently being done.BUT as you said if Bayswater surface can be improved and as I mentioned the rooms it is still the best venue for Premier division finals.PS People mentioning Box Hill the same issues as Ringwood,ground to big/wide and not ideal for viewing when ball on the outer side.

The rooms argument is strange.
The paying public aren’t allowed to go upstairs and watch so does it even matter?
Changerooms are changerooms.

Bayswater/boronia do a great job. Bbq/bars everywhere. Toilets. Temporary cover. Only thing that let them down was the council/rain/ground.

why don't they open up the upstairs for finals at bayswater? move the commentary to the van & open it up.
Could market it to corporates for the league or bayswater sponsors. Would be great viewing for the game

I asked the question years ago about allowing EB to open up the clubrooms during the finals and was told no because the league won't see any of the money. It's a no-brainer, the league and hosting clubs should get together and make some extra dollars for the Grand Final. It's not everyone's cup of tea but people do pay extra for something special on Grand Final day. It's an event at every level.

If any club wanted to know how to be successful they need to contact 'The Rats'.

What a great example of how to run a football club and be so successful both on and off field.

Melton and Sandhurst are great examples too.

Yes he is Noddy. He was in the box seat at Officer FNC and Pakenham FNC moved quickly and trumped them.

I think he has jumped from the 'sh.tshow' that was Nar Nar Goon FNC after winning a premiership and has jumped into another one at Pakenham who have been progressively going backwards in recent years despite a string of high profile/ well credentialed coaches.

He is a good coach but this one will be a test. At Nar Nar Goon he certainly was helped by some quality and well paid recruits!

Not true. Pakenhams first choice was the guy Officer signed who is a playing coach.

every ground in the competition would have become a bog with the rain that fell on that Saturday. Bayswater and Boronia copping grief but any ground that had 12 quarters of footy on it that day would have become a mess

Only 1 more added this week with Josh Allison at Fairpark. Current playing assistant but will be a non playing coach in season 2025.

Not so worried about Waverley Blues yet as their coaching announcement was a bit later, but i think if you were East Burwood and Bayswater you would be starting to get a bit restless. Both clubs have been looking for a long time and haven't yet announced anything.

Marc Hardy did a god job with the list he had at Bayswater. Very surpised he was moved on

It’s 12 months of the year for my types Cliff, not just Spring.

Happy to have the people flock out to the track this time of year and support the industry. Just as long as they stay out of my way, and I don’t have to listen to their drivel. 😜
