But have you got the hat. Are you a chance for Fashions on the Field and will you be spruiking the "Come and play at Doncaster" line?
The peaky blinders cap gets a look in a The Bool carnival, but that’s about it for a hat.
The recruiting days are well pass me these days. Looks like the Sharks have dragged in a handy one. Hopefully more to come.

Ashwood members have voted in favour of joining EFNL.
The SFNL will appeal to AFL Vic if EFNL clubs approve the more "for numerous reasons".
That is truly bizarre areas from SFNL, trying to hold a club ransom who doesnt wanna be there.

However will be EFNL truly be the premier competition if clubs from other leagues keep wanting to come. Maybe the top division.

Nunawading must be in big strife if their best players are going to norwood to likely play reserves. Plus two new competitors in the division for players.

So what is going on at Sth Belgrave and Heath Black? Is he staying or gone. There is nothing official on the Sth Belgrave socials. And what is going on at East Burwood and Bayswater. A lot of clubs re signing players and recruiting.Hard to do that when you don’t even have a coach yet, you are already behind other clubs.

I heard he fell out with the big money man at SB who wields a fair bit of influence (obviously). Of the recruits Black brought in, all on very big money, many didn’t really fire a shot.

Also questions over selection including selection and use of his own son.

They really wanted to win this one as it meant promotion, felt they’d strengthened considerably, and went backwards.

All just second hand off the rumour mill, some probably true, some probably not.

One publicly raised reason was that their SFNL grade would end up with a bye if they left and the EFNL grade they entered would end up having a bye.

Hardly rock solid reasoning from Lee Hartman and his crew, unless they owe the league money.

Only a few days later, Ashwood have pulled their bid to enter the EFNL without explanation.

It is all very strange as they went through a meeting and getting the approval of all members etc.
Now they’ve just pulled it. Looks like they didn’t have all the ducks in a row.

The SFNL were dead against the move and I think this maybe smells a little of the EFNL and SFNL making the decision together. Perhaps there’s a bit of a peace treaty at the border.

The SFNL has really grown over the past few years so it’s not like it’s grabbing what you can from a sinking ship any more. Their top division is very strong in 2025 - Cheltenham, Dingley, St Paul’s, Port Colts, Springy Districts, Cranbourne, Narre Warren. They’re definitely placed to even start luring clubs to come the other way and they might remind the EFNL of that. Maybe a truce is best for all.

Bizarre. The 2 statements released in the last week completely contradict each other. Its actually quite embarrassing for the club and its committee.

It makes you think that the EFNL and SFNL have agreed it won’t happen.

Crazy, what does the SFNL actually care about ashwood. They are bound to get more outer east when that comp eventually dies. Same with eastern.

Cranbourne have been trying to get into the MPFNL for years only for the pompous martini drinkers down at sorrento to veto their move everytime.
Weird SFNL decided to kick up a stink about ashwood.

I get it. Mind you I’m probably a bit biased as I used to live down that way.

It’s always had the making of a great league, there are so many strong clubs in the area, but they have always been under attack by the VAFA, EFL, Outer East and MPFNL. It’s been relentless from all angles. They started with 50-odd clubs and got picked away.

They’re now starting to grow again which is great and it’s easier to do things from a position of strength rather than just having their clubs poached. They want to put a stop to it and fair enough.
