Everyone seems divided on that.

Either way, Robbo was unbelievably unprofessional in his response. Don't recall him showing a whole lot of sympathy to all the players JWH has injured...

I don’t have a problem with what Robbo said to Whitehead face to face - ie. that it has happened too many times. A coach has a right to say that after an ACL to one of his players from a player who has an extensive history with that sort of indiscretion.

But he should be more self aware - all he has to do when he addresses it when he speaks either to Whitehead or to the media, is simply say ‘and yeah, we have players that have long rap sheets too and they need to get that out of their games’

Some points.

How have Penrith been kissed on the dick previously?

Their team has been pillaged season after season and shorn of gun players. Routinely they keep standing up. They have had clearly missing for huge portions of multiple seasons and…. They keep standing up. They have players out for origin each year and they keep standing up.

They’ve won 3 f**king comps in a row, the first team to do it in 40 years plus another grand final before it - they’ve done it by fluke have they? Geez.

We were never going to beat them anyway. But I digress.

Sunday afternoon was a farce and yet again I was f**king embarrassed to be a Roosters fan.

Firstly I was just sad to see three of our most important players go down. Radley can’t take a trick. He’s the most unfairly targeted player in the game - JWH and a few other players probably get the odd whack because of their reputation but Radley easily gets more than what he deserves and he has genuinely cleaned up. And now this happens. So that really pissed me off.

That we even had a chance to win was farcical in itself as we are by the length of the Flemington straight the dumbest team in professional sport, and with those players out, we had no choice but to go back to playing sensible, completion based football. Do you think we could get through a single f**king set?

No chance.

I don’t really buy too much into the bad refereeing business as Canberra were offside all game so the penalty count wasn’t that bad a reflection of anything in particular - they backed their defence, as you should when the opposition is asking no questions of it. They deserved to win and did everything asked of them. We were f**king awful and barring a Joey Manu tear over the next month we won’t be doing jack shit
Penrith have been favourably looked after in games for years. This time it's presented itself in the form of the Roosters injury list. They now just about walk into a GF due to the sheer lack of quality teams in this league. You absolutely could've beaten them. Penrith are nowhere close to the team of the last 3 years.

Only my opinion but Sunday gets a pass from me for the Roosters. Not easy seeing your star players go down around you all game. They clearly weren't where they needed to be from the start but I do think they still win if not for the injuries.

Of course you don't, you're a Chooks supporter.

The only other coach that's got close to doing what Robinson did is Sticky when he had a crack at Salmon last year.

It's incredibly unprofessional and not something that should be done by a coach.

No we couldn’t have.
We’ve built our spot in the top 4 on having a record that prior to Sunday was 100 per cent against the teams outside the 8, plus wins over the Dogs (once), Manly (once) and Dolphins (once). All sides who are outside the top 4.

Penrith getting looked after is a myth concocted by people choosing to ignore the fact that they are simply far more disciplined than any team of the last decade and that for the most part where there are rules to exploit that literally every team tries to exploit, they do it better than anyone - and it’s no coincidence that Melbourne are the other side that does it well.

They’re the third most penalised team this year. 7th most penalised last year. 5th most penalised in 2022. 3rd most in 2021. Doesn’t suggest to me they get particularly looked after.

It's ok, we can agree to disagree on that. I've seen more of Penrith play than my own team play over the last 20 years.

You're absolutely right in that they exploit the rules better than most in the game. I have no idea why anyone thinks that's something worth celebrating but each to their own.

Every team does it. Lying in the ruck to slow the game down, taking time out of the game, escort runners, peeling off tackles slowly one by one so that the last tackler has actually been on the ball carrier for 5 seconds longer than he should etc etc. cribbing extra metres at the play the ball.

Every team does it. Mine included. I wish no teams did it. I hate these aspects of the game. But I’m not going to complain about certain teams who are actually good at doing it when they’re all coached to do it - I literally socialise with a member of Penrith’s staff once a week who affirms exactly what I’m saying - players are coached to run into decoy runners and take a fall. At every club.

But if you’re defence is almost airtight as Penrith and Melbourne’s often is, even sending a decoy runner through at the right angle will force you to run a very tight line and make it hard not to give away a penalty.

Nahhhhh bro, Radley was a longterm grub, he may have cleaned it up a bit this year but that rep is WELL earned and deserved.

Sorry.

In a sport who’s history is littered with eye gougers, biters, cocked elbows, punches, knees, stompers, kickers, etc etc, I will never categorise serial offenders who drift high with their tackling as grubs, long term or otherwise. While he’s far from the most intelligent bloke going around, as far as I can recall every suspension he’s ever had has been for a high tackle bar one ludicrous ban for a ‘late’ shot on Munster that wouldn’t have even been a penalty maybe 5 years ago.

As much as I love JWH I’d call him a grub long before I’d put Radley anywhere near the same category

Cat 1 grub, cat 3 grub.

Radley fits the bill to be somewhere on the spectrum.

Saying some shit he does wouldnt have been a problem 5 years ago is truly an idiotic argument. The game has progressed, for the better, in terms of violent acts. Just because he wouldnt have been a grub 5 years ago doesnt mean he cant be a grub now.

Well yeah it does. For starters, grown men who’ve spent their entire sporting lives playing a particular sport a certain way and are now being suspended for something that every expert deems inexcusably soft and not worthy of a suspension doesn’t make them grubby, mate. It means they’ve transgressed the rules, at worst, in that scenario. It means a footballer paid to make tackles has pushed up off the line to make a tackle and arrived a split second late.

It’s not Fred West behaviour, is it.

Someone picking out a ball player and going ‘I’m going to iron him out no matter how late it is after he’s gotten rid of the ball, with my forearm, and put him out of the game.’ That would be grubby.

Isnt this one of the many things hes been suspended for?

You do you mate, i think the consensus is hes a grub, youre welcome to argue against the majority but it doesnt make you right.

And virtually every one of them has simply been for a tackle slipping high.

If anything his refusal to calm his fuse during that ridiculous game against Souths was worse on the grub scale than anything else he’s ever done.
