The NRL has once again shown some balls and dealt with an in house issue in a ruthless but consistent fashion.
Apparently Parramatta's cover up goes back to 2013 when they first engineered an elaborate scheme to hide what some players were being paid. Given that situation the Eels have probably escaped lightly.
Hopefully the Sharks of the Cronulla variety are circling to see who the Eels discard.
- The Parramatta Eels will be stripped of 12 premiership points
- They will be fined $1M with $250,000 suspended if the club complies with the sanctions within the NRL imposed time frame.
- Paramatta will have to cut it's list to fit under the salary cap.
- Key officials at the club will have to show cause as to why their registration is not stripped by the NRL.
- Paramatta will also be stripped of it's Auckland Nines trophy won earlier this year.
