would be great if bready was about is a good player and would be good for the club and comp. warmlsey WAS a gun but like howard time has caught him. Also VOS good mail spilsbury broke down was best chf in nefu and matt lowe broke his wrist. without injury st helens win the flag they had 7 players out against lilydale in prelim and they limped to 16 fit men at halftime against ringarooma. perth to beat scotch???????? lots of work needed there one wouldve thought. s.smith may be soft but every club would welcome him with open arms surely one of the most polished in the ntfa??
There are a lot of blokes that are 'softer' than Shaun (sorry about incorrect spelling before!) Smith.

This is a bloke I see throw himself at every contest, mightn't be 'tough' and go the fisty cuffs all the time, but never stops running, hits every contest bloody hard and would be in my first 10 picked players in that comp, easy.

Speaking of gun players in the Div 2, did I read somewhere correctly that Jason Savage has gone to Bracknell this year? That will be a massive loss for the comp if that's the case.

bready is a joke you all talk like his a superstar..... his done nothing in football in all the years i have known him and thats about 10. when you start to find something that his done over the years fill me in and i might change my mind. but i very much doubt it. if he couldnt get a game with south lonnie last year when he was at his peak fitness that just show you how much of a dud he is... he will leave halfway thru the year anyway.

I would have to agree as well about breadmore, for some reason there is always hype about how good he is. I've played with him and against him! i guess anyone with some ability would stand out in a poor side...

Rumours about Jason savage have got no lets, spoke to bracknells coach a few days ago and they haven't picked anyone up other then ted davis and corey bosworth.

Buzz howard had the his boys going through there paces last night at royal park, would of been at least 50 there.

Is Buzz having a kick himself?

And don't be surprised if he manages to pull a few other old Ulvie blokes in. St Pats would love a half dozen games out of the like of Super Davies and co.

I dont know the lad but i have heard about him. Everyone i have asked said he is a good young player, Just needs to settle down.

I also dont know you or the other people on here but I"m just wondering what u have done in football yourself. Since u talk him down so much you must be a superstar yourself????

St Pats are the Richmond of the NTFA, always expect big things, never deliver.

I am sure Buzz is fit, but fitter than when he captained the Devils, I highly doubt it. Please don't exaggerate things, however I suppose that is what a lot do on this site anyway!

Seems from comments on here that St Pats are just going to be an old side that will be found out come finals times and the larger grounds, Fingal will be there abouts along with Perth, have no clue about Uni and Evandale may surprise and Cats and O'ls may struggle or could be surprise packets. Graham Jarmen knew his Footy at Hilwood and may turn O'Ls around but will take a year or two. All chasing Scotch who really in a way should be testing themselves in div 1 rather than being a big fish in a small pond

Anyone have an ideas about Lilydale and should have prospect been in div 2 as well

Interesting you bring that up, see below an article in today's Examiner. I would have thought South would lose a few players because I am sure some wont want to be playing for this team with absolutely no history if they don't get picked for the seniors. Glenorchy have the right structure down south, with a team in the Statewide and the SFL. I can't see them lasting long at all.

NEW football club South Prospect has struck an early hurdle with the start of the 2011 season only weeks away. South Prospect, a joint team from South Launceston and the Prospect Sharks, had been granted approval to field three sides in the NTFA's division 1 roster this year. But South Prospect is having difficulty finding enough quality players to fill three teams and instead may drop back to the division 2 competition. A meeting was held at South Launceston last night and the NTFA has given the club until noon today to decide which roster it wants to play in. In division 2 clubs are only required to field a senior and reserves team.

NTFA secretary Robert Anderson said South Prospect had expressed its concerns to the association last week that it may struggle to field three teams. "It was suggested to them if they don't have the numbers they could go back to division 2," he said. Anderson said the NTFA had imposed today's deadline on the club so it could reorganise rosters for the 2011 season if need be. "At present we have byes in both division 1 and division 2," he said.

If South Prospect decides to drop back to division 2 there would no longer be a need for a bye in the top division. South Prospect was formed after an amalgamation of the two clubs in October last year and allowed the Sharks to take a step up from playing in the Leven Football Association. Club spokesman Daniel Smedley said it was crucial that South Prospect be competitive in its new venture. "We don't want to put teams on the field that are going to struggle every week," he said.

He said South Prospect had as many as 60 players at training so far, but admitted that AFL Tasmania's proposed rookie colts competition involving high schools would hurt the club. He said South Prospect would benefit when South Launceston's State League squad was trimmed.

well seeing as he has not played a game for a couple years and he trains every day yes he would be fitter

Isnt this the way prospect tried to enter a couple of years ago by going into div2. Seems state league not knowing which direction they want to go is now starting to affect leagues lower with clubs not knowing what players they have. Just my opinion but give Sth Lton two years and they be back as City South and East Launceston with one in div 1 and other in div2 although scotch might not like another club in their area

yes all of them boys have sighned up tp play but the club doesnt have the money to afford them plus keep the players they have the thomas boys want 400 a game each router about 500 the scolyer boys want 300 a game and they have adam savel how the paying 200 game a lot of the local boys who play there r pretty up set about it look for a big walk out cause they dont have the money to pay them

this is the biggest load of crock i have ever heard. u r a tool.that money isnt even close.have lost only 2 players from last year.had a interclub game on tues. 45 played.

Lilydale will be a breath of fresh air in Div 2 this season and both sides should make finals. What happens once there will be up to them. Scotchies will still be the team to beat ( 1's & Magoo's) but the comp will be stronger and more even than it has been for a few years with 2 new teams and a shiteload of recruits from other leagues. I will be keeping an eye on the new comers to see how they go and wishing them all the best for 2011. Round 1 will be a good test for Lilydale as they are rostered to play Old Scotch and will show where they are at and where to improve to be competative with the big boys.

Also can someone tell me why the NTFA does not have relagation between Div 1 & 2 as this would make for more even comps in both leagues...

Div 2 sides dont want to have to find a Under's team if they were promoted which is one of the reasons that Uni dropped down a division a few years ago. Also the financial gap between the two divisions may also a div2 team from being successful although that said the current Scotch team would be very capable in Div 1

I don't reckon scotch would get with in 10 goals of the top four teams in Div 1. I remember playing back in 97,98 against uni and they had one of the best unders sides going about..! I find it hard they can't source enough players from uni and the area around to get an u/19's side!

Lilydale have always had a strong under 16 team, what are they doing with their juniors now that they've moved into div 2?

interesting thoughts Big Time Player, i'd suggest they'd be a little more competitive than that. most of the players would be walk up starts in any Div 1 side.

Any news on how numbers are going at either Perth or E'dale this year? Are Perth throwing money at Longford boys again?

Lilydale Juniors will play NTJFA but I do know a couple who will play Seniors this year and suprise a few onlookers...
Also half a dozen will easily make the grade at North colts including M.Walsh who will go close to winning the TSL Colts B&F.....

Dropped by Uni preseason last night, 20 or so on track. Couldnt see too many big names there, alot of young kids. Drills didnt test the players too much and were a little dated. Best thing on the park was the grass, looked to be a manageable length to deal with, as opposed to footy season when the mower goes into hibernation

Why is there a Sunday game in this years roster? And only one at that, not exactly going to pull in the crowds with a launcestonians v scotchys at invermay park 10th July
