Think it will be rested for a year. It's been disgraced this year and it needs to be placed aside for a year.
Can anyone tell me what number Todd Viney wore? Never paid attention to that stuff when I was young. If it's still available, Jack Viney may take it, if not, lets give him the cherished number? We know he won't be leaving for bucketloads of money anytime soon...

West Coast gave #9 to NicNat straight away and the old crowd favorite became the new crowd favorite. While slightly different, the fact is it eased the pain of Cousins departure. Maybe it is best to give it to Jack. But I'd hate to put unnecessary pressure on the kid.

It has not been lucky in my lifetime. Even Kelvin Templeton wore it. I would rest it. If it had to be dished out, I would give it to Tapscott. He's not going anywhere unlike Judas . . . . .

Agree with most here. Number 31 can GAGF before he hurts anyone else. He's nothing but a destructive influence.

The #9 actually sat in mothballs for a year after Cousins left, before we drafted NicNat at the end of '08.

Retire it until someone EARNS it, if that takes 10 years then so be it. Maybe that sums up the dean baileys rain that we gave out our most prized numbers to a bunch of draftees because of where they were picked, and not whether they had earned it

Just treat it like any other random high number. Give it to a rookie, give it to nobody I don't really mind. I've had enough of the past, about time we start creating some new history.

Hell yes. I know we have a glorious history, but it's 50 years ago! After that long we shouldn't be too concerned with deeds of the past. I doubt anyone on this forum was even alive last time we won a flag (and if they were alive, they were too young to really remember it). So in reality, none of our numbers have a particularly esteemed history anymore. As Maxmustard said, we need to create some new history.

I agree we shouldn't just vacate the number. Give it to Strauss, the boy has being doing it tough and the number change is great encouragement. Maybe give it to Taggert!

tbh I'm firmly in the "let them chose and make their own number" camp. Not really a fan of passing down legendary numbers and writing our kids futures even though it is a genuine honour receiveing 11, 31 etc...

Thought Wheatley did it some good service very loyal bloke. Can some one confirm if Clark has chosen a number for me, read on wikipedia that he's got 1 but they still have Campbell on the rookie list so I take it no.
