Tama Canning...played four ODIs for New Zealand. I only remember his name because I played against him in juniors here in Perth when I was about 11 or 12. He was so fast then (by 11 and 12 year old standards) that he put the fear into every one of us batting. He hung around the fringe of the WA squad, I believe, before moving to NZ.

Collateral damage in the Dave Gilbert CEO reign, was preferred as coach over Trevor Bayliss which was not a popular move. Had one hand tied behind his back from Day 1. Genuinely good bloke. Happy to bowl to anyone in the nets - no heirs or graces.

I remember him thanks to International Cricket Captain 2006. Was one of NZ's best pacers!

There was a talented Pakistani bowler from the 1980s with the wonderful name of Shahid Mahboob. He was given only one Test and 10 one dayers but took 678 first class wickets at 23.76 and even managed to knock up three centuries.

Brett Dorey. Spudly tall bowler from Western Australia that somehow managed to play 4 games in the Australian ODI team, taking 2 wickets total.
I liked Dorey.

Somewhat unfair. He'd had a good season prior to being picked, and was the reserve spinner when MacGill retired.

It all fell apart after that though.
His health issues and the number of NSW spinners contributed to that in the end.

Only after he wasn't picked for the India tour, in favour of Cameron White.
Bizzare. Everyone bar the selection panel knew he was no full time spinner. The story in Whitewash to Whitewash is somewhat ridiculous

Ronnie Irani - all rounder for England

edit - just read the thread and saw him mentioned already, nevermind!

Got another one, Asif Karim, the guy who took like 3 wickets in a few overs against Australia in the 2003 WC. Think he was nearly 40 years old at the time.

Sylvester Clarke. Obscure in that he didn't play many tests, just behind in the pecking order of the great Windies pacemen of the era. Didn't help that he nearly killed an Indian spectator by hurling a brick at him. The one bowler that Viv said he was never comfortable batting against.
Only a young fella at the time, but have a vague recollection of watching him on the TV against Australia. Big fella, came wide of the crease and big in swingers.

And remembered most for being the batsman out to possibly the best catch of all time.
