AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
A few things stood out for me though. Webberley and Verrier (I think?) were doing a lot of kicking drills on their own while the rest of the team (except the rehab group of Griffiths, Astbury, Moore, and Turner) did main training. I'm not sure why. Verrier and Helbig look a lot alike in my opinion, so it was hard to tell them apart.
Yeah he was there. Was Verrier even out there? I know people were yelling out Steve, but they might have been referring to Morris.
There was an exercise where two players got on their knees facing each other, with one of them holding a ball to their chest. The other player then tackled them, and the ball-holder had to wriggle the ball out of the tackle and between their legs to a 3rd player. I think this was a new drill for the team, as the players didn't seem to be familiar with it at all.
Poor form from Connors. Especially to someone like Houli who obviously gives his all for every minute he's out there, and then some. Just being a jerk to cover up for his own mistake.
It was Helbig who was kicking with Webberly. Not quite sure exactly what was going on, but Helbig seemed to be wincing quite a bit, squatting to stretch his groin every now and then.
On the positive side he's put on some serious kilos. It was only kick to kick but geez he has a nice hoof on him.
A couple of other things I noticed :
Arnot will probably make the grade as a gun inside mid. But he's still going to have to pick up a lot of things, mostly team stuff so don't expect an early debut.
Maric, everything they say about his mullet is true. He's a solid lad who puts in at every contest. Decent skills for a big guy. An improvement but still going to get beaten by the top ruckmen.
foley is flying under the radar. Looks fit.
Jackson is underdone compared to previous years, if the 5 min time trials are anything to go by. He was smashed by Ellis and White.
Ellis. Wow. We have a keeper. He is going to be a very damaging player. I think he will be a line breaker from 1/2 back with his motor, kicking and speed combination.
Darrou. I like him but he has a LOT of work to do if he's going to get into the Coburg seniors. Same with Piva.
I am genuinely excited about this year. If we can only upset Carlton in the first round, we have a great chance at the edge of the top 8.
Fitness is really holding these 2 back, I think they both have AFL qualities, let's hope they can both dig in and make it happen over the next 2-3 years.Darrou. I like him but he has a LOT of work to do if he's going to get into the Coburg seniors. Same with Piva.
Surprisingly lost his spot in the leadership group. He certainly is flying unnnoticed this year, sign of our improving midfield I guess. He could very much be a massive suprise packet this season. It's very easy to forget just how good he was.
Really going to be crunch time for some blokes who have been around the club a few years now with the young talent coming through.
Edwards
Connors
Tuck
White
Jackson
At least 2 possibly 3 of the above mentioned will have their carreers on the line in 2012 with the turn over of talent that Dimma and the coaches will be looking at in next years supposed super draft.
If 2 out of these 5 players can have a breakout year and really step it up to the next level, Thats when we can expect to see massive wins in the midfield along with the undoubted talent that
Foley,Delidio,Martin,Cotchin,Conca,Ellis possess.
Good luck to all the lads & lets kick the F*** out of the cheating scum from Pussy park
any news on an intra club before the nab ?
Just saw Ross Smith walking down punt road from swan street with a few coffees in hand, good to see he is a team player
Shit he looks like one mean unit
i asked the stig and he said probably not with all the match simulation they are doing.
