Re: Offical 18's gvfl thread

he was also spotted on monday nights session on top of a wanganui class room. a top class spy he is!

Yeah and I leap tall buildings in a single bound!! Still wearing that pies jumper I notice!!

Where should I watch training from on Friday??

Re: Offical 18's gvfl thread

Just heard that Wilson will be staying at Mooroopna for 2008. He was training at Swans. Mercedes can you confirm he is staying at Cat land. IMO he should stay there, played all his junior footy and one year of under 18's there. It would be a shame for him to lose that history. Sad for swans if true as he would have been a real top pickup for them. Anyone know the cats rough list.

As at late last evening the young fellow has not made up his mind. Mooroopna are obviously exerting pressure on Willo and its a tough call considering the circumstances. In the end obviosly it will be his decision and maybe the heartstrings will win out.

Re: Offical 18's gvfl thread

There was actually about 12 parents at training on that night as I spent about 40 minutes with them. Doyle, Sully and Ryan did actually train but along with a few others had to leave early for touch footy at McEwan. Coach of United told me that he was keen to close his list this Monday night and was only awaiting responses from a few players. It will be good when all the kids committ and we can look at final lists. I was at Deakin on Friday night and Trelly was training with the Bears, a Bears official told me that Wells had spoken to the boy and he sounded confident that they would get him. United believe that both Trelly and Muggelton will be training with them on Monday night. As I said earlier it will be good once all the players have committed at the respective clubs. Its a bit of a merry go around at the moment. In my opinion I think Trelly will go to Swans and Muggleton will be at United or Congupna. Just a guess.

When I dropped into Princes Park on Wednesday evening to see if there were any new faces the obvious one that I noticed was young Muggleton. He trained very well and seemed to be getting on well with the others. Also a couple of others that I did not know having a run.

I am not sure when the final list is to be drawn up but I suspect it maybe another week or so. Still some others in the wings from what I am advised.

Trelly also trained and I think it is a certainty that he will be there.

Yer think your spot on with Trelly, Swans look the goods there. Still think Muggles might be leaning towards Congupna. But time will tell. I heard he will be making a decision next week. I was down at Deakin tonight watching a few of the lads go around at cricket and a very reliable source who knows the family and kid told me that Liam Shaw trained at United on Wednesday night and totally committed to United for 2008. The source also told me that Swans had signed the boy before he flew out for overseas late last year (which doesn't really hold him to swans anyway). If this is true Swans would be really disappointed and Untied really happy. I saw this kid go around last year for Wanganui and I rated him very highly. Can anyone confirm, my source at United has dried up (probably because I am too honest online). Hey Mercedes, still waiting for your list, don't be bashfull, sho us what you have got up to now, lol.

Liam Shaw trained at the Swans on Monday evening. The boy had only just arrived back from overseas a day or two before and did well under the circumstances. I understand he was one of the first to sign at the Swans, perhaps he was just checking his options at United? I will make enquiries and post a list over the weekend.

Trellyand i were talking today and the deciding factor may be young nick bence. Bence reckons he might try and play with Shepp Bears! and that might sway trellfall. we'll just have to wait and see.

Big improvement on last years squad but still a few problems for swans with that list. I have seen all these boys go around and unless most of them have improved dramatically the swans may struggle to make the finals. In my opinion the class rests with Grant, Preese and Finnen. Forget about Dash as he will be tied up with bushies (3 or 4 games). King, BT, Parris, N Barolli, and Trelfall are handy players. Muggles is yet to sign anywhere and the mail is United or Congupna. Shaw has committed to United (even though he did sign pre christmas with swans). And I have been told that Betson and Reeves are considering a return to the Road. So the list doesn't look that hot until these players are confirmed. We may have to wiat a bit longer before the swans list is finalised. The only outstanding signing for United is I believe Muggles, otherwise their list is complete. I understand that they have been knocking back quality players who left their decision too long.

Re: Offical 18's gvfl thread

News along the grapevine. L. Lowden from Bears to United
Haven't heard that one. Wouldn't think Bears would let him go considering their struggles at the moment. He would be a huge pickup for United if they were able to Qualify him for finals. I wonder if this is a porky pie that is doing the rounds. What is the connection to United?

So the list has altered your earlier comment - "I think it will be very close this year with a number of clubs improving. Echuca, United, Kyabram, Mooroopna making up the top 4, Seymour, Swans, Tatura, and Mansfield making up the knocking on the doors and possible make it to finals group"

I believe the Swans are after a marked improvement from last year - and that would not be too difficult to achieve as they won just the won game from memory. If they make the bottom end of the finals they would be pleased in my opinion given the age of the squad. No-one knows how anyone will perform, who may get injured etc etc so we are all just expressing our opinions which is a good conversation topic.

Any names that they have knocked back or is that too sensitive?

Sorry but i don't understand what you're exactly asking

pretty sure this might be the one your sources were keeping from you demons... luke wants to play for united this year as most of his good mates are... but its no porky pie and pretty sure he will qualify for finals as the school comp only goes for 10 rounds.. just depending on how much tac he plays with sandringham

Not sure that it has change my initial opinion too much. I really do think the Swans will improve greatly this year. I just think that if the swans miss out on Shaw, Muggles, Wilson, Reeves and Betson the difference between their elite and other players widens greatly. With the cloness of the comp this year I don't believe they will have the quality to consistently win games over the whole year. And your right there are a lot of unknowns that could crop up for all sides. On the list posted, I think the best the swans can look forward too is 6th, 7th or 8th if everything goes their way. But we wait and see.

No idea who the knockbacks were, all I could get was that there was 4 handy players 2 from Katandra, 1 from Tally and 1 from Shepp east.

These young swans boys will prove to all u doubters that they can play.
They're not scared of all the big top age boys. They are gonna go out there and have a crack. They trained well on monday night with silky skills.
Shaw will play with Swans coz of grant. Hopefully Reeves decides to play for them that will keep Betson and Muggles at Swans
