While a lot could still happen during the trade period its look like neither Giles or Tyson are going anywhere

If that's correct then...

Great result if we start the trade period by re-signing Giles and re-affirming our position on Tyson (perhaps an extension, Dom?)

There's been a lot of talk surrounding Martin and Hogan for the mini-draft, but with Kelly's recent emergence the demand for the two picks can only increase. Inside Footy's Brett Anderson tweeted that the Dees and Dogs should be looking more at Hogan (i.e. MD2) as a better fit for them being a key forward prospect, which bodes well for the value of MD2 given their draft position(s).

What are GWS fans thoughts on MD1 + MD2 + Jed Anderson for 5 + 6 + Markovic? Would the Bulldogs need to add something (Williams, Tom Campbell?) to make it worthwhile?

I see GWS trading the rights to players like Tom Lee, which hasn't been flagged much yet. Tom Lee would probably buy you a juicy pick upgrade that would be of use to you or possibly even a useable pick in its own right. How many more of these types of trades do GWS have left and will you guys pick up a few players to keep?

As a casual GWS follower I'd like to see a another big bodied ready to go defender added, and I'd like to see you guys trade for a draft pick that secures Grundy (if not a WBD pick then with Melbourne, maybe pick 4 for MD2 and something, maybe a second rounder and a prelisted player).

Grundy's the guy I want GWS to add the most. Saves you needing to waste time with a hack, Giles is great as a ruck / forward so it would make a deadly combination in 2-3 years.

I'd avoid blokes like Gillies who are bit players and don't have the strength to hold out a KPD post.

At 25 years old I do not believe Markovic is worth much at all, it is a gamble and GWS is not looking for this type of player.

I think people need to realize MD picks 1 and 2 are basically picks 1 and 2 in next years draft but you can get them into your club right now and start developing them in the clubs fitness program and their reserves side.

Picks 1 and 2 is not worth 5 and 6, although I do hope GWS somehow gets them because they are great value.

Pick 2 would get it done. Depends what everyone is going to do in the first 10 picks of the draft.

If we were the representatives at the trade table, I wouldn't walk away. Next step, would GC include their 2nd rounder? (for GWS to use in other trades)

Hmm. Good question, one to which I'm not sure on. Pick #25 is our second rounder. What would you use it on?

Its overpaying. Anderson aint steak knives, and Marko is.

Im expecting 6 for MD1 from Doggies, and someone else for MD2 for a pick around 11 and a player. Geelong's end of first round compo pick plus their first plus steak knives may well happen as well.

Keep Markovic and we have a deal! ;)

More seriously, I'd see 5 + 6 for MD1 + our 2nd rounder + Anderson or Tom Lee as reasonably fair. If you consider a mini-draft pick to be worth a first rounder plus, you're getting value of two first rounders plus, plus a late first rounder/early second rounder, for two first round picks and Markovic. I don't think there'd be jumping for joy at GWS for that offer.

With Tippett off to the Swans and less room for the big Canadian should we look at trading for him. Would give us a solid ruck and also show Izzy what can be done through hard work, also wouldn't cost much.

I suspect Seaby is a more likely target than Pyke.

Remember, when the grand final was on the line, they subbed Mumford and left the Canadian on the paddock.

No they are not , More 3-5 atm but they may end up becoming 1 & 2 but cold also end up being 10-15 depending on how they go next year and how other players perform.

Last year O;Meara & Crouch were stand outs and well worth what GC & Crows coughed up - this year is weaker

But in saying that Lee & Anderson shouldnt be looked at as just steaknives they are quality in their own right

@emmasq
Mini-draft talks have slowed up a bit. The Dogs-GWS-Richmond trade won't happen. Coll, Melb, Dogs & possibly Geelong all keen for a pick

Goes on to say Collingwood are trying to get a high pick to trade in.

LRT won't go anywhere. And unless Pyke decides he should be a full-time starting ruckman he won't either.

If we didn't get Seaby for this season I doubt we will for next.

In terms of trading MD picks etc. we should do what it takes to be able to draft Whitfield and Grundy. Any thing less than that.. Then I would say maximum number of picks especially compo picks. I seriously would give the two MDs to GC for 2.

Thats what I've read / heard.

Maybe late 1st to early second as technically in this sort of tradeGWS are giving up nothing and getting a pretty decent pick.

Shame Koby Stevens isn't interested in GWS.

In this case we would be giving up something - Jed Anderson. I'd much rather have him on our list. :)
