Re: Official GVFL thread

Steve Daniels did it 2005 and 2006.

I think Richard Warburton is coaching isn't he? or did he step down when he got the Bears job.

Also In regards to TANK, pretty disappointing that he'll have to play his 400th game against Mooroopna at Mooroopna.
Would have thought the league could have given him a home game for this one, being the first and probably only player that will ever play 400 games.
I undertsand Rochie did put in a request, but it was deemed to be too late.

Maybe they'll have to ice him for a week.

Very disappointing if they asked the league and it was denied.

I think Eishold coached the GV too, although I'm not sure if he was coaching Echuca at the same time.

Either way in regards to Tank, he will be playing a home game when the 400th game comes up.

Its worth a lot of $$ to Rochester as the functions during the day and at night will inject alot of money into the club. why shouldnt he have a home game to celebrate with? League should have accommodated as it certainly is not a every year ocurrence. I just hope Rochester committee had it on the radar early enough as the league will be bagged unmercilessly in the coming months about this if true from the draw perspective of not allowing it.

Re: Official GVFL thread

alot weaker than the gv, it would be closer to murray or the picola leagues.

That is shit mate, Im playing at the waratahs this year and play for kyabram when im home and i rate the Darwin football league alot better than GV and any league back home, the top five teams up here would win the GV flag. All teams get players from all over Australia so of course its going to be a stronger league mate, the pace of the game is quickest iv ever played before. Im also playing with lic at the moment and his a gun, will be one of the best on ballers playing GV this year very hard at it and big winner of the ball.

You have been playing for Ky tho!

I'm sure if you ask a few blokes at shepp swans who have played in premiership in Darwin and then played in the GV they would agree with us.

I also find it hard to believe that the top 5 sides would win a GV flag.
Now we know you do play at Ky.

Mayzie your own team mate says that the GV is a stronger comp and thats someone who has played SANFL then NTFL the GV then NTFL again.

I do agree with you about Linc tho. Is a quality player but we might see how different the leagues are. He's been playing 12 months of the year for about 5 years now and he's coming coming to play in one of the best country comps in Aust. He is in his 30's and playing all those seasons deos take its toll. especially being a mid fielder!

i was in darwin on the wknd and watched both finals and was actually suprised how good the standard was. Was better than i thought would be and is different style of footy to the gvl but definetly on par with gvl, the depth of sides apparently drop away in darwin comp. linc withers got reported on wknd so may affect his start with kyabram (not much in the report tho) and he had prob 20-25 touches for waratahs. brad stephens former barooga boy had it on a string and kicked 4 majors. he looks the fittest he been in years.

Yeah i no ky havent been the best side in the league the last few years and yes maybe not the top 5 sides would win the flag but the top 5 sides would push the better GV sides for sure. the bottem sides do drop away but every league has that. I have played bushrangers before and the pace up here would be the same as TAC cup if not quicker. Alot of good players running around up here.

Lic hasnt played much football at all this year so his body should be fine for a full season at kyabram, he has been overseas and has only played 5 games for waratahs this year. in very good form at the moment

theres not much you havent done tat9. played with waratahs, ky and bushrangers. surely an afl club is knocking your door down. (or tat, as your name suggests??)

Re: Official GVFL thread

Mate you might need Roberts to bring this bloke Tat 9 back from Darwin then you wil be a premiershp coach! :thumbsu:

GV flag probably wouldnt mean to much to him tho, as it isn't a really good standard of football. Compared to other fantastic leagues anyway

Re: Official GVFL thread

A very good crowd was at Euroa on Saturday night to watch Wangaratta Rovers defeat Wodonga Raiders. A great money spinner for the club, will most likely get a bigger crowd this week as Euroa take on Wangaratta Rovers. The senior match starts at 7pm. Will be interesting to see how Euroa shape up against a very good side from the O&M.

Will any new players be playing for Euroa, with the quality of transfers out Euroa need to bring some in. Will be good to see a GV club go up against a O&M club and their might be a bit more to play for than just a practice match. Im sure pride will be high on both teams agenda.

I think Euroa will be undermanned for this game as a few of the older players will be attending weddings in Melbourne an Euroa. But that will give some of the young locals a chance to shine in what is ure to be a competitive game. As you said some pride will be on the line.

Bit of info from Rochy:

New beginning for Rochester Football Club

March 4 2008
Campaspe News

With the cricket season coming to an end soon, focus will turn to Rochester Football Club and a new beginning under Daniel Schmidt.

In his first season as coach, Schmidt has developed a young enthusiastic group of players.

The Tigers will travel to Nathalia on March 15 to do battle with the premiers of the Murray Football League for the previous two seasons.

Ex-players Troy Snelson and Nathan Gemmill will be pitting their skills against Dean Moon, Ash Watson, Kahl Oliver, Anthony `Tank' McPhee, new boys Sam O'Brien, Ben Duscher, Jake Perry, Jack Givney and exBushrangers captain Brad Collins.

The club welcomes back young gun Matt Letcher this season, who has had a bad run in the past two years with back and groin injuries.

Perry Oliver, Scott Han, Carl Moon and Tim Bubb have all had good, solid preseasons.

Rochester will hold an interclub match on March 20 during the club's normal training session.

This will be followed by a barbecue and drinks for all players and supporters. Everyone is invited to enjoy the night with the club.

March 29 will see the club in its second practice match against Keilor Park, which has seen the highs and lows of Essendon and district league football, having played finals in division one in 2005 and this season being relegated to division two.

Ex-Essendon stars and Keilor Park locals Joe Misiti and Mark Mecuri will be up to watch their team-mates play, according to Keilor Park president Adam Papal.

"We are hoping the guys may play on the day, but that depends on the coach and if he believes they need the hit-out," Papal said.

Both these practice matches will be for seniors and reserves only, with the third 18 playing in the Stanhope night competition for under 18s.

The last match the club will be hosting is against BarhamKoondrook from the Central Murray league on April 5 for all three grades.

I didnt realise it makes any difference who you play in a PRACTICE game. Im silly enough to believe it was PRACTICE. Where will they end up on the ladder after these 3 games? If they win all 3 do they play in the pre season grand final.....................you idiot.

Perhaps the sides that want to win the flag this year should just go up there and recruit from the top 5 sides. Then we should see superstars that no mortal GV player would get near. In fact why does'nt say the side that finishes 5th up there relocate for a year to win the GV flag???:confused: And whoever you are I wil find out when you win the Morrison!

Think you will find the NT league is stronger than the GV. Thats why a lot of you GV legends go up there to play in the reserves.
