Re: Official GVFL thread

The thing is Dennis Flett and Rohan Block promised Nobel the world to get him over here and now they have provided nothing!

Nobel has been close to leaving a couple of time because of the 2 blokes i have mentioned.

I also have it on good authority that Rohan Block has told the playing group they are not aloud to go on a footy trip this yr! Nobel got word of this and sorted that out straight away.

Feel very sorry for Malcs moved along way to get let down. Not by the playing group but by a couple of blokes on the board.

There has to be more to this. If this was our club and the coach was going to leave coz he hasn't got a job i am sure one of the committee or supporters would offer him something at least until the season ends

What are everyones tips for the big match of the round against Swans and United?

I think you will find he was promised a competitive side also. Unfortunatly for the boys playing under him they are very inexperienced.
I have heard from quiet a few of the lads still playing at the kennel that he is the best coach they have ever played under though!

Also heard on the rumour mill that Malcs was over here being interviewed by the shepp swans and he was the swannies number one choice but he picked Tatura over them!

Dogs remain cool Tatura captain Scott Thorn said the precarious off-field position of Bulldogs coach Malcolm Noble had yet to have an impact on the club's playing group, as it grappled at the bottom of the Goulburn Valley Football League ladder.

Thorn said he and his teammates' sole focus was on bettering themselves on-field and that Noble's employment woes were not their concern.
"It hasn't unsettled us," Thorn said.

"We're there to play footy."

Noble, who joined the club as coach this season, said earlier this week he could be forced to quit as coach within days after being unable to secure full-time employment in the Goulburn Valley to complement his coaching role.
Learning of Noble's situation in The News yesterday, Thorn said while the players empathised with his position they would be leaving those issues to the board.

"The board's there to sort out the coach," he said.

"We'll be asking him if he wants to coach us, (but) I think he's pretty keen.

"It's a bit hard when you're getting beaten by 20 goals every week, but we're fronting up and he's trying to lift us."

Noble said in yesterday's News he was happy to remain as the Bulldogs' coach, but his lack of employment could force him to move.

Tatura has won just five games during the past three seasons, its last in round five this year, when the Bulldogs upset Mansfield for its first win under Noble.

Prior to that, Tatura had gone 307 days without posting a win.

Re: Official GVFL thread

While i concede it wasn't a full blooded kick it was a bit more than a push off and he can consider himself lucky that it was not seen by the umps. I also believe Mr. Campbell was a bit concerned for his safety because 1. there were 2 police officers in front of the Seymour supporters as Echuca walked from the ground and 2. Mr. Campbell made sure he was right in the middle of his teamates as they did so .

You Nuffy the slackarse Echuca coppers, in particular a Mr. Ian Quanchi are always at the footy watching their mate Kervo who is a cop in Echuca. I'm sure Mr. Campbell would have been pooing his pants. The fact that the Seymour player or players didn't reminstrate shows they are either A) Soft or B) The incident was pretty soft. Get your head out of your arse and cop your drubbing on the weekend!

Re: Official GVFL thread

Noble set to walk out Tatura coach Malcolm Noble could be forced to quit the Bulldogs' top job within days after being unable to secure full-time employment in the Goulburn Valley.
Noble said yesterday he had reached a point where if something did not come along soon, he would have no option but to look at opportunities elsewhere.
"It's not a football issue," Noble said.
"Yes, I'm happy to stay on as coach of Tatura Football Club, but for five months I haven't been able to find employment to complement my football job.
"If (employment) raises its head elsewhere, I'm sorry but I have to go.
"The time frame could be tomorrow, it could be next week."
The News believes Noble came close to walking away from the club on Monday, indicating he would not coach after the first full round of competition if the club could not help him with employment.
"I took a gamble to come here and chucked in a fair bit," Noble said.
"And while footy is starting to fall into place, I need to look after myself."
Confirming there had been talks with Noble about his future, president Denis Flett said discussions during the past 48 hours gave him confidence he would front up this weekend.
"I expect him to remain as coach," Flett said.
"If there was an understanding he wouldn't be there, we'd be on the motor for someone else.
"In house we (the board and Noble) are always going to challenge each other to get the best for the future.
"But I've got no reason to believe anything is different and our energies are focused towards this weekend and planning for next season.
"We are putting a lot of preparations into place for the 2008 season and we are working together."
What a disgrace this is??.You business owners in tatura pull your heads from out of your bums and give this man a full time job.Surely a town like tatura there would be someone willing to give this man a full time job seeing that if he doesnt get one he will moving on and your local footy side will be left without a coach????????????.
Hang your heads in shame tatura its a bloody disgrace

Re: Official GVFL thread

What about country towns helping each other out????
This is a great advertisement for future coaches thinking about tatura.
I know the drought has hit a lot of towns hard, but lets be honest there must be a couple of positions for full time employment somewhere??.
So what are the football club doing about this, what are the committee doing about this??.
What about sponsors, isnt there any businesses that sponsor tatura?//
So much for town spirit

Maybe some people around town arent too happy with a few things he said 5 minutes after arriving.

Anyway its not up to the town, IF he was promised a job before he moved the people making the promise should have had it arranged prior to making the committment.

Of course there's businesses that sponsor Tatura, but jobs just don't grow on trees, especially coming off the worst drought in 100 years.

Even if he's been harshly done by with the promise of employment, couldn't he find a job in the Shepparton area whilst he's got a bit of money coming in from coaching? Seems a bit strange. What field is he looking at employment in?

Re: Official GVFL thread

Brad Rowe or anybody

Can somebody please post the articles from the shepp news. For some reason i can not get on to the sight.

In particular the echuca one.

Cheers

Self belief is key Confidence has brought consistency for Echuca and as it steams its way up the Goulburn Valley Football League ladder it's showing no signs of stopping.
Reigning Morrison medallist Colin Durie said Echuca had moved past the patchy passages of play it produced earlier in the season and was making a concerted effort not to return to that kind of game.
"The confidence is up now," Durie said.
"We're still a pretty young side and the self belief has come that we can play at that level.
"We had really good wins against Tatura and Seymour, where for the first time we played four quarters of footy, so it's coming together."
In contrast, Mooroopna coach Derek Hall wants to be rid of the losing monkey which is on the Cats' back.
"In light of our performance last week, it's all about attitude," Hall said.
"There wouldn't be too many blokes who said they put in their best effort last week, besides perhaps Shaun Robbins and Luke Sofi, so we're looking for an even effort."
With Brad and Blake Campbell better for the run last week, Hall said he believed his side was not far off a win.
"Echuca are the competition's form team, but I'd be disappointed if we turned up without a strong attitude," he said.
"We certainly have enough fire power, but sides are regularly having 25 to 30 scoring shots against us, so we need to limit their supply from the midfield and keep them to a score we can get over."
To further bolster the supreme confidence of Echuca is the likely return of Brad Smith.

Give all or give up Euroa coach Dave Gleeson is not putting the acid on any individual this weekend.
He's putting it on all 21 members of his side.
Facing off against reigning premier Seymour, which it beat in wet boggy conditions at Kings Park last year, Gleeson said it was time for his charges to decide if they were contenders or pretenders.
"If we're going to play these better sides, I need to know I've got the side to play on them," Gleeson said.
"If we want to be considered (in finals) we have to come to play.
"Historically over the past few years we've matched up pretty well on them, so we're hoping for another good game that goes our way."
Likely to boost the Magpies, who sit fourth spot on the Goulburn Valley Football League ladder with five wins and two losses, is the return of Craig Bamford from a hamstring strain and youngster Brad Cunningham, who was dropped back to the thirds last week to refresh.
Usual suspect Saad Saad will be the one to stop, according to Gleeson, with defender Adam McBrien likely to get first crack.
"Adam is a dour backman, who can give us a little bit of speed off the back lines," he said.
Lions coach Bernie Haberman said he was excited by the clash, given both sides had a bit riding on it.
"For them, they want to consolidate after a win last week, and for us we need to bounce back," Haberman said.
"The boys have had a lot of endeavour over the last fews years and you don't just lose that culture overnight.
"They know our strengths and we know their best players because we've played them enough over the last few years, so hopefully we can get over the line."
Included in Euroa's strengths is its forward line, with Haberman expecting his defenders to keep a close check on the likes of Hayden Lamaro, Luke Hyatt and Scott Grainger, who kicked 10 last week.
Lions ruckman Shane Schottner is again doubtful to line up for the home side.

Saints are keen to keep the upper hand By Christie Peucker

Tatura has not beaten Benalla since round three, 2004, and Brenton Cooper is determined to keep it that way.
With key defender Shayne McKean returning from a hamstring strain and gun fullforward Ricky Symes only a couple of weeks off, Cooper said this weekend's match with the Bulldogs could be the start of a run of wins for his side.
"Ricky looks like being back in the next fortnight, so hopefully we can start to cause a few hassles," Cooper said.
"If you look back a few weeks ago they beat Mansfield at Mansfield, so they are capable of a performance, but in saying that, we expect to win."
Keen to capitalise on Benalla's tendency to lapse in parts of the second half, Bulldogs coach Malcolm Noble said his side needed to regain confidence.
"Hopefully we can get some dominance from Tim Little in the centre and capitalise on that," Noble said.
He said he would need solid performances in defence, with Saints young gun Farran Priest and quality servant Mark MacKenzie looking dangerous as avenues to goal.
Anton Borrelli is likely to go with Priest, while Jake Chessells or Jason Dagger will work to tame MacKenzie.
Zac Anderson will miss with a dislocated finger as will Brendan Keast with a rolled ankle, while under-18 Chris Ryan is expected to remain in the line-up after debuting last week.

Bears not fazed by injuries By Christie Peucker

Injuries to Clint Dudgeon (knee) and Matt Campbell (ankle) will not rattle the young Shepparton side according to assistant coach Jeremy O'Brien.
With the pair likely to be out for several weeks, O'Brien said the focus was on their replacements, who he hoped would help the Bears to their fourth win of the season.
"Danny Mac (Daniel McIntyre) who hurt his shoulder and played in the twos last week, he should be back," O'Brien said.
"There is a chance we could get Dicko (Steve Dickinson) back (from a knee reconstruction) because he got second or third best in the twos, but he'll probably have another week in the reserves and we'll get another thirds kid."
Winning the majority of their clashes by narrow margins so far this year, O'Brien said the Bears would need to be cautious of the winless Kyabram as they edge towards a berth in the top six.
"We can't take Kyabram lightly," he said.
"We played them in a similar position last year when we needed a win towards the end of the year and they beat us."
This time, O'Brien wants to see the Bears finish off the contest.
"The better our onepercenters are the more games we'll win, so we are trying to focus on the smaller things," O'Brien said.
"When we do get a few goals up we need to capitalise.
"We were five goals up against Benalla at the 10-minute mark of the second quarter and the scores were level at three-quarter-time.
"So we need to keep working at that intensity because it makes you a good side if you can get five goals up and get another four or five."
For Kyabram, Brett Morgan is expected to make his long-awaited return after breaking a bone in his foot in the off season, while Michael Croxford will miss the next four weeks with a shoulder injury.

Tigers under pressure to stay in touch By Rob Harris

Star Rochester bigman Ben Anderson admits his club's finals hopes could be on the line this weekend when the eighth-placed Tigers host Mansfield.
The Tigers are three wins and four losses and are yet to win a game away from home.
The club's disappointing start to the year has been compounded with injury and suspension to six of its best 22.
Captain Heath Aitken returns from injury for Rochester, while Kahl Oliver, Elliot Bowen, Clint Witsed and Brodie Montague are also likely to return from injury.
"There's no doubt the pressure is on this week in terms of staying in touch with the top six sides," Anderson said.
"The next month is pretty important for us and that starts this week, I suppose."
Anderson said the return of Aitken would help bolster the club's on-ball brigade, while Bowen would also help the forward set-up become more potent.
Mansfield coach Peter Tossol said the club's win against Mooroopna was a major confidence boost and the Eagles would be further bolstered by Bushrangers Andrew Browne and Brett Mahoney and Jame Sheahan from Assumption College.
"We dropped a game over there last year when they were in a similar situation, so the boys know how tough it can be playing Rochester at home," Tossol said.
"Last week was a fantastic effort and I'd like to think we can keep that kind of performance going."

Sunday on my mind Tomorrow's top-of-thetable clash between crosstown rivals Shepparton United and the Swans has spectators and football fans salivating at the prospect of watching a potential grand final preview.
Instead the Swans will only pull about half the maximum gate takings they could, as the majority of us will be cheering on our club somewhere across the Goulburn Valley tomorrow.
This begs the question why Goulburn Valley Football League and its clubs are not pro-active enough to schedule a regular Sunday fixture.
Sunday football would not only give those who play or support their team on Saturday a chance to watch others or scout competition on the Sunday, but also potentially be a great revenue raiser for the league and clubs involved.
Many people made the journey to Princess Park in round four this season to watch Shepparton Swans down Mooroopna by five points in what was one of the most entertaining games of the season to date.
These two clubs have followed the lead of Shepparton and United in recent years by playing their games on Sunday and their rivalry is quickly matching that of the one at Deakin Reserve.
One option could be to have one game in Greater Shepparton on Sunday a round, whether it is a home game for the Swans, Bears, United, Cats or Tatura.
The only negative aspect of this proposal is that other clubs might voice dismay at their lack of opportunity to host Sunday games and possibly gain a bigger crowd.
A way around this problem could be to employ an AFL initiative and pair each of the 12 teams into rivalries.
When one of these pairs, for instance Rochester and Echuca, is due to meet, that will be the Sunday game for that particular round and that way it provides all clubs with a chance of producing a bigger crowd on at least one Sunday a year.
The only way this idea of Sunday footy in the Goulburn Valley league can come to fruition is with significant backing from the players, spectators and all others involved in the competition.
For those clubs that might not be as well off financially or are struggling to get spectators at their home games, the idea of Sunday football and its potential to raise revenue for these clubs might come under serious consideration.
For some clubs, hosting games on Sunday might earn them an ample amount of money over time to develop their facilities or allow them to try to compete with the clubs that are better off financially.
Sunday football's marketability locally could have the league back on an even keel quicker than we think.

Got yourself a first grade spot and now an injury. No good Boss. Hope it heals fat. All the best.

Thats the way footy goes, especially my career. Just when I start to string a few games together and find a little form, something always happens.

I havent really heard much of late but coming on here tonight seeing the article about Noble does not shock me. Tatura made the biggest mistake the day they got rid of the heart and soul of that football club (John,Pete and Travis Ryan), those 3 where loved by many and had respect of the players which is the most important thing.

Its upsetting to see the footy club go backwards from the position we where in last year, but I truely believe that had they stuck tight with Moose 95% of blokes would have stayed and a few more would have come. In effect we where 5 or 6 good footballers of being a finals side.

To bad so sad I suppose.
