Calderon playing sensational basketball while Ford is out, and was pretty good coming off the bench even when Ford was playing.

At 11 ppg and 8 apg, he is my best Free Agent pick-up thus far.

Fair to say Hill has been my best pick-up from the Free Agents list. Gibson has also been pretty good. The other two I have are Wells and Mason - they are playing well enough to remain on my list for the minute, but neither are secure.

I like the Roy, Bynum side for that one.

Bynum has HUGE keeper value as you only require a later rd draft pick to keep him.

My thinking in accepting was this: Nene is back and Kevin Martin is nearly back, so by next week I should be able to sit Brand in the IR spot for hopefully only the next 6 weeks. JJ is starting to shoot at his usual clip and should be giving me 2 3's a game which IMO makes him that bit better than Roy. If Brand does come back on schedule he's significantly better than Bynam coming into what I hope will be a playoff run. It's a big risk but if it comes off I'll be able to trade one of Bogut, Aldridge, Nene or Nazr for a decent swingman and be in great shape. Having said all that I'm only doing this deal because my team is slumping horrifically.

I've just accept an offer of Joe Johnson and LaMarcus Aldridge for Pau Gasol and Shane Battier, then added Darko Milicic off the waiver wire for Sam Cassell.

You give up a little of rebounds, turnovers and blocks for assists and a whole lot of points. The trade works for me as I'm tanking assists and have a ton of scoring so I could afford to give a bit up. Darko is frustrating as hell to own, good luck!

In pulling the trigger on this deal, I'm counting on Gasol being moved before the deadline. He's no longer the #1 offensive option for the Grizzlies (Rudy Gay is) and his defensive stats are down now that Darko's alongside him. Battier is worth two treys, a steal and a block every game, but doesn't contribute much to the 'big three' categories of points, boards and assists.

If you've got high volume scorers, rebounders and assisters, Battier is the perfect companion. The fact is, I don't. I needed a volume shooter and a 5-6apg Point Guard. Losing defensive stats is a worry, but I'm negating that by taking Darko off the waiver wire. The fact is, I always wanted Darko, but didn't want to have Darko and Gasol in the same lineup.

That said, overall, I think this trade is very even. He's trading away his extra points, I'm trading away my extra blocks. Everything else balances out.

Turns a 7-2 defecit into a 4-5 win. If it weren't for Ginobli's comeback game today, we would have won 5-4. If it weren't for West or Deng being injured, the result would have been different. Prick, prick, prick.
