Just some questions on the rookies, i haven't heard much about either of them so if you know anything it would be appretiated.

Dean ********

Is he in the mould of NLM, and plays as a runnig half back or is he more key position?
Is he quick?
Good skills?

Danny Charters

How old is he?
Is he a key defender, if so CHB or FB?
Is he athletic/quick?
Good skills?

And if any one has a picture of either of the guys in would be appreciated.

CHEERS!;)

I hope that Ben continues with Bendigo ,i thought he was some chance to be rookied again by somone .

Yeah, disappointed noone saw enough in Ben to give him a shot. He had a great work ethic and was prepared to back his judgement with the ball.

Looks like we definately drafted for position in the rookie draft, probably makes sense after we drafted a host of midfielders in the National Draft.

Essendon has also today added three rookies to its list to take the total to five in season 2007. Dean ******** (Perth), Danny Charters (Peel Thunder) and Adam Ramanauskas (Essendon) were all selected in the AFL Rookie Draft and will join Heath Hocking and Lachlan McKinnon who remain on the list from 2006.

Dean ******** is a Clontarf Academy graduate who stands 190cm and weighs 87kg. He played for Western Australia in the National Under 18 Championships. He has spent most of his junior career playing as a tall defender.

"He has an ability to create time and space. He has good skills, is very well balanced and he kicks the ball exceptionally well," Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro said. "He is a laconic sort of kid and the son of former Essendon player Willie ******** who played seven games for the club in 1992."

"Danny is a 20-year-old who is about 194cm tall and weighs 95kg so he is a physically mature type of player. He has played 25 or so senior games for Peel Thunder in the WAFL. He would have represented the State at under 18 level a couple of years ago but missed with a broken hand.

"He is footy smart and is a left footer. He is also a key position defender so his selection - like that of Dean ******** - is about succession planning. It is about identifying where we need to have some options in place and recruiting accordingly."

With the photo's I'd say he is nothing like the old man, looks lot thinner and more agile, also a different era so you would expect bit thinner

Hard to compare him though, barely saw the old man play for any length of time. Looks taller though, and certainly robust like the old man.

can people pleasaestop pumpin up ben jolley on how unlucky he is, there are plenty of others who have been unlucky to have not be given a chance at all. Jolley was just to slow at AFL level, the only reason he made it was his work ethic but that sometimes can only take u so far. As eveidenced by being overlooked by 16 clubs he doesnt have the capacity to be a solid player for seniors. If we had a cross breed of jolley and cupido for the right reasons we would have had a super player, cupido didnt have the ethic and jolley didnt have the talent.

Id think skipworth is very very unlucky, more so then jolley.

I'm aware of that, it was Dale May's club as well. I'm tipping he didn't go back for the love of the jumper.

In all reality, you'd imagine Ben would try to keep his AFL career alive by playing in the VFL somewhere.

Actually Dale did.

Its for mates why he went back there. In '05 Dale was playing there when he didnt have a gig in the VFL and started enjoying it so much with his mates he stayed there.

Was on peanuts compared to Harvey, Barnard and co.

Him, Watts, Capewell, Ford, Trevean are all good mates.

Dont know that much about Jolley, you would be right in saying he would have a crack at a VFL club.

:D :thumbsu: RAMA!!
Great news that Michael is officially ours..
hopefully he has a great season with out injuries.. *you know Essendon's luck*.

Thank god we didn't get any of the CLOKE brothers!!! ;)

Jesus, get a grip. We're entitled to our opinions right or wrong. We took on Mark Fraser who was exceptionally quick, yet nothing else to offer.

Its the manner you adopt that suggests only your opinion should be worth noting. Some of us think Jolley was a bit stiff. You've just have to accept we dont all agree with you.
