I've been to a game here to watch a mate play and I actually really enjoyed watching it, but feel like it's a sport you need to see live. Sad to hear atmosphere is shit.
Crowds probably different in aus too watching it.

It's hard to explain but I guess there's so much music and gimmicks and crowd involvement etc that it's probably an easy sport to watch even if you don't like hockey because so much is going on. Like the light show, to the visuals, the big jumbo screen and the acoustics of a small indoor stadium make it half an EDM rave, but then when the first puck drops it goes silent and you can hear the guys skating on the ice it's really weird.

I think a lot of world sports now seem to want to throw in extra entertainment shit people actually don't want. I kind of get it, some people have got short attention spans and need something to fill in gaps, and some people feel their getting more value for over priced tickets when they get tunes and rave lights included in their sport.

I remember listening to Eric Bana's 'out of bounds' album which if you hadn't heard it was Eric trying to a 12th man with the AFL in the 90s. Every time they did an arounds the grounds at went to Sydney the running joke was that Sydney never started the game because they where busy bringing out dodgem cars or some shit, or some ridiculous over the top entertainment that wasn't the game itself

But idk, just give me the atmosphere of the crowd and a vocal cheer squad after a goal instead of flashing lights and playing music, that's what i paid to be part of. But as i said it's not just an AFL thing or a Hockey thing. A lot of sports now love to do it, and god forbid it's a slow sport you'd enjoy at a calmer pace, now they have to tweak the rules to make it more BBL like so they can cram as much fake hype about it. See 'Super Netball' and recently 'Liv golf'. Thankfully Tennis Australia seems to understand they're not inventing world series cricket in tennis and have seemingly given up on 'Fast4 Tennis'. Imagine forking out to see a sport people have watched for decades to see the condensed version, literally getting less content

Anyways this rant got away from me, how bout dem sports amirite?

I used to go when I lived in US.

Great sport to enjoy even if you’re new to it - relatively self-explanatory rules, incredible speed and some excellent violence. And the crowd atmosphere and whole experience is amazing.

Been lucky enough to travel a lot and see plenty of sporting events overseas. Australia is definitely modelling their live game experience on American sports. Europe has a totally different vibe at events than America. But have to say there are so many stoppages in play in American sports, that I feel It's necessary. Also, American crowds don't make any noise except the start and end of games. Everything inbetween is quite dull. So I don't mind the full on over energised atmosphere the stadiums try to create. Having said that, the experience of college sports in the USi s a must. The crowd atmosphere is elite.

But nothing quite like a European soccer experience where there's no bells and whistles, but the crowd chanting and being invested in every play is something to behold.

So to sum up yesterday , i thought Cummins decision to not throw the ball to Starc after lunch went a long way to getting the remaining Indians out cheaply .
:thumbsu:
Khawaja showed us what he hasn't been doing all summer ,
:thumbsu: keep him as opener, until someone bangs the door down to open.
Marnus is a battler now , but as a number 3 he should be doing more than just survive ,
middle order for Marnus, or drop him?
Smith had an interesting summer , wobbly start , peeled off 2 centuries , took some ripper catches ,and dropped 7 chances of various difficulties ,
:thumbsu: Captain Smith play him at 4?
Travis is travis ,
Would you Open with Head and Khawaja?
and Webster did more this test than Marsh did all summer.
:thumbsu: he deserves to play in the Sri Lanka tests.
Carey was solid all summer , no question he is first choice keeper ,
:thumbsu: yep, for the tour of Sri Lanka
Cummins is a brilliant cricketer and a good leader,
:thumbsu: yep... rest. Deserves to see his child born.
Starc probably shouldn't have played this test , but hindsight is easy ,
I would rest Schtarker from Sri Lanka.
Boland took his chance and was excellent ,
:thumbsu: a keeper for this test team now.
Hazelwood was good early in the series but is finding it hard to get through a summer ,
I would rest Hazelwood from Sri Lanka
lyon had the easier summer given the decks were not favorable for him mostly .
I would keep the old goat in this side for some time yet.
As for Konstas ,
Would you play Konstas at 3... with Head & Khawaja opening? Maybe McSweeney at 3, or 4th wicket... Smith could go down to 5th for Sri Lanka?
It's time to blood some younger guys, ahead of the coming Ashes tour, imv.
