OKFL - Pre Season 2012

Anyone think that the top 4 is settled for the year or for that matter the top 8 - Only Bright outside of the 8 have any realistic chance of making it but have a very hard draw with Whorouly, Milawa, All Blacks, Nth Wang and Moyhu? - as do Greta - the same 5 sides. It will depend on which side can cause the most upsets.

What is everyones thought on flag favourites from my thoughts and what I have witneesed these would be in order the current standings

Milawa 3-1 equal favourites but injuries may catch them out but have exceeded early pre seasons predicitions may be jelling more than in previous years
Whorouly - 3-1 equal favorities they have the firepower to go all the way with West waiting in the wings to add to this power
North Wang - 9-2 Can drop the unexpected game maybe a season away from real contender crowd also a concern umpires may take a set against them
King Valley - 5-1 unknown on how they will handle a bigger ground due to size of ground at Whitfield
Moyhu - 8-1 Injury curse may spell the end to back to back hopes depends on the current injured coming back fully fit and firing
Tarrawingee - 10-1 Perennial Grand Finalist on there day can cause great concern for opposition have the finals experience to back up
Benalla All Blacks - 10-1 need a big scalp to give them the belief they can play off in the decider have trouble and led all top 4 this year at times but haven't got over the line King Valley last round could be there big scalp last round of the year

Not bad, but going on those odds North Wang is favourite. Will be interesting to see how Milawa goes over the next month with a lot of players out. I think every one of those sides has a chance to win it this year. I'd probably put Moyhu on the same level as KV at the moment.

I thought Whorouly for premiers before Round 1 & have seen nothing to change my mind. King Valley will be thereabouts & I reckon are the main threat. Moyhu & Milawa may have players back from injury by then but Whorouly's big guns should loom large in September. Tarra are the "Forrest Gump's " at the moment, you just don't know what you're going to get week to week. Address this issue & they'll be right up there. Can't see All Blacks doing much. My gut tells me should they hang onto the double chance North Wang will go out in straight sets. They might be a bigger threat next year if the money tree doesn't die!!

Would love to say "Greta" but with the exception of the upset against Milawa (still the only side to beat them), they've struggled against better opposition. I've no doubt their best is good enough but they've a habit of dropping off in one quarter per game against top sides which does all the damage on the scoreboard.

Good pick up nonch it should have been 9-2

Shagatitic Yeh are you a current player or supporter of Tatong as i note that you follow Tatong regualry with your current and most recent Posts. My understanding as talking with Pidge up the street a couple of weeks ago Tatong have been hit pretty hard with injuries this year Re there better players in the seniors Nick Hill Broken Foot Matt King Captain Quad and David Keen Broken Thumb/Hamstring Lance Barton Due to work commitments plays every 2 nd or 3rd week Dale Gross Broken Foot Seamus Boland Hamstring Cam Ross Work/Injury Brett Sherrif Knee and the numerous number of 2s players as we all know are unavailable from week to week.So yes i can understand if there is a bit going on out at Tatong but all good clubs wheather thes storm and i am sure Tatong will do the same. All are in there best 22 but as we know it is hard if you do not have your best players on the park. Tatong was aways going to be Re Building this year anyway with 2 young Coaches taking over. Would like to get your take on what is going on and look foward to your response? as you seem to know a fair bit about the club.

King valley for the flag thats what i think Tatong seem to be in a bit of strife numbers lacking players not respecting pidge There going backwards fast
you would't be referring to the "allegeged" scuffle between the coach and a few payers in the change rooms afer our last game would you. i wasn't there but sounds pretty ordinry if its true. but we will bounce back. we have got tarra this week even though we havnt named a team after the "alleged walkout" i still think we can give them a run for there money even those naysyers say that pidge's days are numbererd. we are hoping that he will re sign for the next two seasons. as we think that is all we will last. but we will crush swanpool in a few weeks and they will be the ones too fold.

Sorry Brownie, meant to say players not payers, i should do a spell check just like you 'afer'. so why don't you get off the sidelines of the O&K post and go back and help G'Bat out, they must be struggling if swampool can beat them.

I think you both need to go back to school as not even the spell check can sort some of your words out...

After finally having played all the old B&D sides this year, I reckon they have all improved a fair bit. I know they are all suffering from the injury curse at the moment but they will all be even better next year. As I said a while back, it's a long slow process to become really competitive.

Not being one for rumours....but.....I know this one has been around for a while but seems to be gathering some momentum. Bright to the Tallangatta league as soon as they can...Travelling and thirds comp as the reasons.....Anyone heard same..

Moyhu had some quality players out but so did we. We outscored the reigning premier 7 goals in the middle two quarters & wasted a six goal lead with 20 minutes left. The day Greta put together four quarters we'll shake the tree for those above us. Problem is with the exception of the Milawa game they've showed only glimpses but we all know that's not good enough against quality sides.

Would have been great to spoil Moyhu's 10 year premiership reunion. But it reminded me why Moyhu have been such a strong club over the past 10 or so years. They were gone yet found a way to win. You can't bottle that sort of thing & it will be bloody handy come finals time.

It will be interesting to see how you blokes go against All Blacks this weekend as they have been struggling against the top sides also. Could make or break the season for both clubs.

We've been saying that the past fortnight Re: King Valley & then Moyhu. The final spot in the 8 is up for grabs but if Bright continue upsetting better sides (like Tarra) then they'll take that spot & will have deserved it. A win against Moyhu would have effectively given Greta a two game buffer over Bright. Giving up a 35 point lead with 20 minutes left was unforgivable & very costly. So yes, if they can't beat All Blacks at home this weekend yet still scrape into the finals they'll just be making up the numbers. Being ever the optimist though, as I said earlier if they can string some consistency within games together & build on that they'll be a threat but time is running out.

may need to cut a deal Bunyip......We have Bright straight up after you guys...:)

By the way NONCH Benalla and Greta play for the Gerry Crothers cup this week. Gerry was a life member at both clubs...Hint,hint

Hey Slim18, speaking of rumours, have it on very good authority that a main fwd for North Wang decided to hit a girl and an uncle of a player at their function on Saturday night at their clubrooms. Further to that he got belted by other players. The rumoured penalty - will not be signed next year. Slaps in the face of trying to create a team culture when you would let him play out the year, just cos you want to win a flag.
