There aren’t many 30 year old fringe players in the afl, why exactly do you think that is? Pretty whacko to not understand that
I understand that he will be delisted if he doesn't have a good year. But I don't understand your theory that it will be to do with his pace dropping off. Because that means either his pace drops off at 29. Or Collingwood decide that a 29 year old should be delisted after a good year, preemptively predicting a pace drop off before the age that blokes have won Olympic gold in the 100m.

It's nonsense.

Hey man, remember that time you said no one ever comes back full strength from a torn pec and then I provided a study that refuted your claim and you just ignored it?

Good times.

I watched a video of a world leading surgeon talking about it to an elite athlete, just repeating what the surgeon said.
I didn’t realise Markov was 30.

Surely you get the context before…

Yea and we're talking about him playing well next year and getting a new contract for 2026...

These are the players who are out of contract at the end of next year …

… I‘ve ordered them IMO from most likely to least likely to get an extension…

Maynard
Hill
Harrison
Parker
Smit
Pendlebury
WHE
Mihocek
Jiath
Steene
Elliott
Howe
Sidebottom
Frampton
Sullivan
Cox
Dean
Mitchell
McInnis
Long
Macrae

(1) Is that fair?

(2) Where on that scale would you currently put Markov?

I’d put him around Howe / Sidebottom. Which would mean that IMO there would currently be around 9 players more likely to get cut ahead of Markov.

I think Mitchell will go another two years. Fair assessment though mate.
Markov would be the same only if he has a decent season.

It's up to you to turn his form around again. He had a shocker this year but let's hope he has another 2023 in him for nextb years flag

For me it's more clumped into lines:

Johnson - gone

Dean/Macrae/Reef/Long/Sullivan - gone without a good year and never had a good year, so wouldn't bet on any of them.

Markov - gone without a good year but more likely to have a good year as he's done it pretty recently.

No idea where Steene and Smit sit, might just have to make progress. Jiath the same.

Sidey/Titch/Cox - gone without a good year but pretty good chances to have good years.

Pendles - I think he'll retire.

Howe and Frampton I think we'll want to keep. Maybe Frampton gets cut if we like a tall or two we draft and/or poach kpd.

Elliott/ WHE and Checkers: it would take significant injury or their choice to retire.

Smit will get AFL games in 2025.

It would not surprise me if Pendles has another 2 years in him. Supreme athlete.
Agree on what you say.
Mitchell another 2 years as well. He too keeps in shape.

I think with the 30+ year olds you will find that for a lot of them, when the end does come, the drop off, it will come quite quickly and it could happen to two three or even four players either this or next season.
