Bad Barry was devastated after the miss, and to Fevola’s credit, he ran the full length of the field to console him, I was lucky enough to have an extremely intimate chat with him after the match. On another note, I find it interesting that clubs like to pass on the favouritism tag, I won’t engage in weak mind games. We go in to 2024 with bounty’s on our heads, we are the side to beat with the most to lose, anything other than getting a grip on the cup is a failure
Maatttteeee loosen the grip before the head pops off. As much as I enjoy your mostly biased comments and knowledge of years gone by, I feel for the rest of the rovers community for how rediculous you make them look

Some brilliant players there, great list. Tossol another Rovers gun. And Sexton for Yarra. Only started in 1989, but on-ball partnership with Brunner was crucial to winning the premiership that year.

think they lost one in the early 2000s with a good squad
2002, the one that got away, we went in favourites, beat NA only a fortnight prior. Had some aging body’s, Stabber was over 40, Pas, Matty Allen and Walker all would’ve been over 35. Big Karlos had just come back in to town from Glenrowan, polled well in the league count, best half back flanker I’ve ever seen in the O&M, more than held his own tussling with Bomber Hilton. Our thirds went undefeated for the year, Jamie won the league medal as a 15 year old, Nige, big Alipate, Macca had future stars coming out of his ears. Mullins was floating about, wasn’t quite there at senior level. It still hurts today let me tell you, that’s footy.

Was it 2002 when big Aaron Schenk was running around for the Hawks? I remember he had a few really good seasons there with one of his knees pretty much held together by a rubber band. Was a man mountain and lumbered around the ground, but gee did he work hard both ways and at ground level for a bloke his size. Don’t see big men like that anymore. They are all pretty athletic and skillful now for the most part.

I think it was also Robbie Walker’s last season as well. Won his fifth Morris at 35 and then retired with a degenerative neck injury. Man was a deadset freak

I blame the forwards scout in 2002, too busy fighting and not watching north
Myself and three others went down to pick Albury apart in the preliminary, NA jumped them, 8 goal buffer in the first, we quickly knew NA meant business, our focus shifted to a very young NA side. Bush was knocked out cold, kicked a bag, Albury being the scumbags they are couldn’t contain him so they eventually bought him. We lacked firepower in the forward half, I was eyeing off Lang from Wangaratta, he was the missing piece , they’d just won a wooden spoon, unfortunately it wasn’t to be. History shows how quickly things can turn.

Surely you wouldn’t have needed an entourage big fella.

With your scouting skills, the other 3 were surely just there to hold you back.

That was a great grand final to watch.
North Albury side was stacked with superstars as well.
The good old days hey.
Doesn’t seem to be as many older bodies running around anymore, how many guys would be over 35 in the league?
I think you’d find that the big 4 might have a few but the majority of the other sides would battle to have one. The attitude might be what is the point of hanging around without hope of a flag now. Loyalty isn’t a thing any more either.

I reckon you would be surprised.
Nth Albury Kade Brown
Lavington Adam Butler
Corowa Kade Kuschert
Myrtleford Simon Curtis
Wodonga & Raiders?
