They wouldn't go, their supporters would prefer them to play in vic every week so they can attend more games. The option of playing in this new afl would mean travelling every 2nd or 3rd week and that means less games their supporters and members could attend and that may turn away members.
doesnt stop WCE, we've had a two year waiting list to become a full Perth based member. I guess our fans are a little more loyal.

But do you think collingwood would have a choice? do you thing this is some sort of socialist utopia? no, the AFL own collingwood and the tv networks own the AFL.

Maybe tell your fellow fans who want a breakaway league this.

And why would you think that HQ would send a team to another league where they're likely to lose fan base? Why would you think the TV networks would change what is already a good thing in a risk they might lose ratings for the sake of this quasi league?

As for the teams having their own choice, they have some say, would have to be voted in by 3 qtrs of majority vote of all teams in the current league to move a club to another league - and if that club votes no then it's a no go anyway.

Seriously, this conversation of a break away league hasn't been mentioned in the media or by any footballing body - not that I've heard anyway. So it's all just desperation by non vic supporters on forums so they can have it their own way.

Not gonna happen in our lifetime, right now these are the numbers and no matter what anyone says or does it dictates the current landscape we have - no escaping it, where the market is.

How about they give the 'away' team twice the supporter allocation of the 'home' team if they finished higher on the ladder.

If Adel had 34k carded supporters in the stands instead of 17k the whole playing at a foreign venue issue would be completely neutered.

If they don't sell those tickets, though, They go back to the pool as usual.

That’s an Interesting idea Tuco and would bring merit to a difficult situation. Imagine this year for example 17K extra WCE fans being able to buy face value tickets into the grannie. The extra demand for flights etc would be the same as extra 17k would replace the thousands of Eagles who pay over 5K to get there via package deals.
But good ole Vic bias is going to take time to be rid of. And don’t worry it’s slowly happening. Eddie was complaining that his team had to wear the white shorts...

Mmmmm

:straining:Yeah.... bout that

Possible this happens again assuming Geelong wins the other prelim facing Sydney or Port Adelaide which finished higher on the ladder in the H&A season

The coach of your Club even pointed out what an advantage it is

No doubt over the long term it's a factor.

I look at Brisbane tonight, they are a good side and their best is great. But three wins in a row interstate is a big ask.

Hawks came seventh, and had they made GF there'd be two "away" finals at home, including GF.

I love the MCG Grand Final, but rotating it like the Superbowl would be fairer. Won't happen though

TBH, Port loses their higher ranking to Geelong in the first final. Rankings shouldn't end at H&A season.

Geelong are seed 2 now after their win over Port. This is only a factor if Sydney win next week and Geelong win too.

It's a neutral GF no matter what combination of teams make it this year

It's a neutral GF no matter what combination of teams make it this year
Yeah neutral.

At a venue that Max Holmes has played at more times than Ollie Wines.
Same venue where Gryan Miers has played at more times than Travis Boak has in his 18 year career.
And drove for a hour on the team bus, didn’t have to get on a plane to get there.

Luckily it’s neutral.

How many times in the last 5 seasons has geelong played at the g vs the interstate teams?

Irrelevant twaddle.
We have never been and never will be an MCG tenant ergo this is not a home match. Never will be.

True, facts that don’t support your opinion usually are dismissed as irrelevant.

Horses mouth.
MCG.games - The 'M' stands for Melbourne btw - cannot be a home game for a team not from Melbourne.

Never will be. This will be a neutral GF.

No, assuming we win our prelim final and if we play Port Adelaide we play a team who forfeit that ranking courtesy of the fact that we beat them in the QF.

If the headf**king you’re copping at the moment was any more lubeless your brain would prolapse.
