I hope a side comes in called 'The Elephants', then we can have the thread Operation: Dumbo Drop.

You realise, that having heard Harry's description of winning a flag, this is the prfect operation for that very last game.:D:D

The GF will be Operation: "Dumbo Drop"

"How do you swallow an elephant? One bite at a time. So that's what we're trying to do. It's a Chinese proverb. The elusive premiership is the elephant. You just chip away and you focus on the process. One bite at a time."

I'm predicting 3 changes for the Cats.

In: Prestigiacomo, Fraser, Shaw.

Out: N.Brown (omitted), D. Jolly (bruising/general soreness/calf...appeared to hurt his shoulder), Harry O'Brien (calf = rest)

None of those out deserve to be, but Presti is a given, Jolly will have to be rested at some stage, getting a good whack to his shoulder in a marking contest and Harry is the only back I'd rest with Shaw coming in. Sack, Toovey and Reid all have jobs to do and experience to gain v the Cats.

Need Harry V the Cats AND Shaw. All hands on deck. Man the lifeboats! Women and children first!

Dunno, yer eyed-ness

With Mick and his horses-for-courses approach, he would def. put the best available on the park. I think that means Jolly/O'Brien so they can test out match-ups before finals time.

Presti... probably. But it'd be a shame, as Nathan didn't really disgrace himself.

I'm willing to say I went out on a limb with two of those, Jolly and O'Brien.:)
Jolly did look sore though and that may bring the inevitable forward.
At some stage we have to give Fraser a run as he has had the form over Wood and I just cannot see MM going into a finals series without a hint of a viable option to Jolly if he should get injured.

Heater is a cert if he's fit and the reason I'd be looking to rest Harry is that he hasn't had a break yet and absolutely no-one deserves to be dropped on form.

Terrible situation.:D

Wait WHAT?!?

Those are 2 of the WORST 3 outs I've seen. Against Essendon maybe, but Geelong?

If anything, it's going to be:

In: Presti, Shaw, Medhurst (maybe)

Out: Macaffer, Wellingham (knee), Blair (maybe)

Regardless of the team we select for Saturday night, the style of play we use against the Pussies will determine how successful we are on the night.'

First time around, to a large extent, we tried to play a very slow, methodical game when we had the ball, and ended up in front 1/2 way through the 3rd quarter, only to be blown away in 20 minutes.

We need to attack, we need to be the aggressors, not the defenders.

From the moment the ball is bounced, we also need to be mindful of Geelong's "burst" that destroy sides.

If it seems like Geelong are on one of these bursts, then we can slow play down, and just absorb a little bit of their energy, and then launch an attack of our own.

Last time against the Cats, if MaCaffer had of kicked the 2 goals he choked on in the last, it would have been 6 points the diff with 15 minutes to go.

Geelong deserved to beat us last time, but I am very confident the result will be reversed this week.:)

Don't take it too seriously...Ed.

More a debate generator than anything.

I had forgotten Wellers injured his knee amongst the claims it was just bruising.

Straight swap for Shaw. Give him another run on the wing.

Um - could you rethink that last word? Something more......euphoric/cathartic, but decent, of course. It has to go in my sig.

Geez Snag...trying to keep the lid on and all.:D

omg, there is another cat inside!

Echoes of 2001-A Space Odyssey except he looks inside a black and white Pies artefact .....

"My God. It's full of Stars!":D

Love the Haiku's.

An interesting one....we do need to play Fraser, Medhurst, McCarthy and to a lessor extent Anthony in the next few weeks to ensure they are finals ready.

The whole point of having depth is that they are ready to step in when needed, if they haven't played an AFL game in 8 weeks and are called upon they most likely will not be able to pick up the tempo increase......let alone if they are asked to step up to finals intensity.

We need to expose some of these blokes to some quality football sides....just in case. Playing them in a 10 goal walk in the park against Essendon wont help us, or them, much at all either.

Wellingham to miss just as a precaution.
Blair to make way, 5 good games so we know he is now in the mix.
Thomas to be rested

In comes H.Shaw, Medhurst and McCarthy who have both been in the best in the VFL in the last couple of weeks.

I'm looking forward to this game with massive anticipation... win, lose or draw.. as long as we come out doing all the right things, then September action will be deep and euphoric!
