Private function is a private function they weren’t doing anything illegal. The bar tender was the one who complained. They probably dropped 5-10k over the bar. Bet he’s not getting many shifts

They were in a room in a hotel, it wasn’t a house party, they were on property owned by an organisation, if they were breaking hotel policy, then they were in the wrong.
Private function doesn’t mean anything goes. Especially for high profile sportsmen. They were still out in public, representing their club and in some respect, the AFL.
Something like that gets out and its found the bartender did nothing, they lose their job.

Even for us normal campaigners, people always say be careful what you d/say at work drinks, it could land you in trouble and be a bad look on the company. People have had careers ruined because of things they did/said at “private” functions

But have they done anything illegal or just distasteful?. Big difference and open to interpretation. If it’s not illegal then AFL have overstepped in my opinion.
If it’s against house policy then it’s the house who needs to stop it. It’s RSA 101. They don’t stop, you shut it down like any other organisation. You don’t run to the governing organisation to complain. Police aren’t even involved.

Yup that is correct but if GWS didn't have a problem then it should be fine. If they were not kicked out of the function room and allowed to continue, then the venue is a piece of shit because they decided not to step in and enforce their behaviour rules and then report them.
