The Cats looked after by the boy's club again.
Such a corrupt league.

Yep - Geelong have 10 x genuine home games, and play the Gather Round as an away game against Adelaide which could easily have been assigned to them any other 22 x rounds.

It must be nice having such a massive fixture advantage over all your rivals locked in before pre-season even begins each year.

And just in case you weren’t aware … what they have is the equivalent of the Pies playing 10 games at Victoria Park, 5 games at the MCG and 3 games at Marvel. Pies would never miss finals either.

Something I can’t work out … why are the Cats given so many home games at the tail of every H&A season. They get approx 40% of games at GMHBA over the years … but here is the breakdown of games (so expected ratio is 40%):

2025: 5 of last 9 games at home = 56%

2024: 4 of last 8 = 50%

2023: 5 of 8 = 63%

2022: 5 of 8 = 63%

2021: 4 of 8 = 50% (last 3 x games were home)

2019: 4 of 9 = 44% (2 of last 3 = 66%)

2018: 4 of 6 = 67%

2017: 3 of 4 = 75%

2016: 3 of 6 = 50%

2015: 5 of 10 = 50%

2014 is the last time they had a nice even spread of home games spaced throughout the season, and not majority of home games shoe horned into the last part of the season.

Does anyone know the logic to this? A conspiracy may suggest it’s a great place to ease into a finals series by getting a big whack of easy kills as the old Cat legs are tiring…?!?

It’ll happen in 2025 also … everyone will question their ability to play finals / make top-4 post bye …. then review the fixture and see they close the season with :

Lions (Cattery)
Tigers (Cattery)
GWS (away)
Saints (Cattery)
North (Marvel)
Port (Cattery)
Bombers (Cattery)
Sydney (away)
Tigers (MCG)

So 5 x Cattery games and North and Tigers in last 9 x rounds. Welcome to finals Scotty!
