I wonder how the VFL looked as a spectacle in 1904? Their scoreboards don't look all that different from the current AFLW.

Really good post. I can’t see why Saints Essendon and Adelaide improve, Carlton and Collingwood both still need a second good tall defender, Melbourne still need a tall forward and Petraca will probably take time to fully recover, Geelong are a year older and have only one key forward and Sydney must have mental damage after another gf disaster. Probably only GWS and the Dogs have complete lists. This year will be injury lotto with 7clubs rolling out the excuse of “If only so and so wasn’t injured”. The risk for us is that we and North might get more wins than expected.

Taranto, lynch and hopper would need to be fit and firing. For us to win more than a handful of games. Looking at our best 22 next year and it’s pretty grim.

I agree with that.
I watched the GF last night, all the way thru and appreciate the contest. The girls have a genuine crack, at times move the ball well and pressure the opposition relentlessly.
Only problem I have is the way it’s pushed at us like it is elite level sport. It’s not even close. Dominated news tonight and there were literally no highlights to show.
So yes, it’s a genuine sport but not worthy of the attention it gets. IMO

I wouldn’t say the AFLW lacks intensity. They crack in hard, put plenty of the blokes to shame in that regard
