Carltons list is shit. People want to over rate it over a run of wins 2 years ago that still produced stuff all.

Their top handful are good, that's it.

Cripps, Curnow, TDK, Weitering and Walsh.

McKay- Soft and can't kick. Mentally weak.
Cerra - vanilla midfielder, usually injured.
Hewitt - tries hard but is slow and average kick.
Saad- has a few flashy plays but doesn't do enough actual defending.
Docherty- panics and turns it over.
Cowan - meh
McGovern- Spud
Young- Spud
Haynes- dud delist
Acres - has some decent games.
Hollands- meh
Camporeale- looks ok but nothing special
Fogarty- dud delist
Motlop- has some talent but is flakey.
Silvagni- has some talent but isn't tall enough or fast enough. Tries hard atleast.
Kemp- meh
Cottrell- meh
Lord - thought he showed signs he's a decent talent. Not sure why he's sub behind so many spuds.

List is more good. Wouldn't swap it for ours.

I'll play Devil's advocate. The line up is similar to our 2017 list. 4 or 5 top A graders, then a lot of decentish guys.

But where we had great mental strength and players filling roles to a T. Carlton are mentally weak and their game plan is easy to disrupt and break open. I'd say that is both list development and coaching - both on and off field.

When they started the game against us they hit shorter targets and pulled us out of structure. We adjusted and they simply melted after that. The Hawks just ground them down. Easy to beat the Blues - just follow PommyInOz's guide from his chat with Michaels. Get in their face and stop them playing their game. They will crumble and just kick long to a contest. Easy intercept marks and break them open on the rebound. That's mental strength, leadership, and coaching Carlton lack.
