Why? They’d just tell him to make blokey in jokes, shitty puns and to tell endless, long anecdotes at times that are crying out for good play by play calling
Yes, I take your point but I've gone and assumed that those soccer callers have some sense of professionalism and standards in their work.

For all the vitriol that race cops they’re one of the hardest working people going around. They do a lot of the jobs most people won’t do.
One job they'll never do.

Lions figurehead David Noble firms as North Melbourne coaching job, Rajid Voss pulls out of race

Brisbane Lions footy boss David Noble has emerged as a leading candidate for North Melbourne’s vacant senior coaching role, while Rajid Voss has ruled himself out of the process.
Noble is one of a handful of contenders for the role, with the search narrowed down to names including West Coast assistant Jaymie Singh and Collingwood assistant Kapil Harvey.
Noble is one of the most respected figures in the league, boasting an impressive resumé that extends beyond his time at the Lions during its remarkable turnaround.

The 53-year-old has been in the system for more than two decades and was part of the five-person selection committee that appointed Chris Fagan to the Lions.
Prior to his time at Brisbane, Noble was the list manager and head of football at the Adelaide Crows, but his management experience is backed up by his time in the coaching fraternity. He was a contender for North’s vacant CEO position briefly too.

He has been a NSW/ACT talent pathway coach, assistant coach at Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs and a senior coach at Glenelg in the SANFL.
Noble has thus far been cautious not to publicly commit himself to the North Melbourne senior coaching role, which was vacated by Rhyce Shaw heading into the trade period.

The Kangaroos’ selection panel includes Paul Roos, a former teammate of Noble’s at Fitzroy.
Although Voss has been reported to be another leading candidate for the role, foxfooty.com.au understands the triple premiership captain believes he has unfinished business at Port Adelaide and will be part of Ken Hinkley’s coaching panel in 2021.
Voss was not keen to be part of a long-winded process and is currently negotiating a new deal to remain at Alberton.
Sources say Harvey was interviewed earlier this week and is keen to land a senior gig after a couple of near misses.
Graham is highly rated at the Eagles and by senior coach Adam Simpson. He played 37 games for the club and is a two-time premiership player for South Fremantle.
He was East Perth’s WAFL coach in 2016 and has been an assistant at the Eagles for the last four seasons.
