Fair... umpires have absolutely no understanding of the game. Free kicks paid for slight in the back tackles but players getting doll ragged all over the place and it’s ****ing play on. HTB back to not existing while play acting rewarded more than ever. Absolute dog shit for the quality of the game.

they are basically trying to ignore certain things and call certain things so as to make the play flow better and keep the ball going at all costs, to get it inside 50 before everyone floods back, to stop repeat stoppages etc. they probably understand the game but they are told to umpire a certain way by the AFL, and the AFL just wants goals for ads and fast play because apparently that's the only way the sport will be interesting according to them and the old men on foxfooty etc

the thing is it's horrible to watch umps not call the game properly... I would rather watch a game end up 10-all after 2 hours than watch manufactured goals from umps ignoring nearly every single throw, or calling ****en weak "rough conduct"/in the back/high frees and stupid weak 50's or even 100m penalties which is one of the most contrived rules i've ever seen in any sport it's a bloody joke that rule
