Holy s$&t the Toasters really fkd up 2 games in a row. First Kennedy and sending him back on without doing the 20min concussion test only for him to come off 3mins later crook. Now they let Shue go back out there with hamstring awareness only for him to potentially tear the fn thing. The guy missed weeks earlier in the year with a hamstring. What the hell are they thinking there sweet fa games left before finals. Depending on how bad it is he could potentially cost them a shot at the flag :drunk:

Cam McCarthy wants to continue his AFL career at Collingwood
Cam McCarthy says he is open to continuing his AFL career outside of WA and has set his sights on one of the biggest clubs in Australian sport as his destination of choice. Would he be a good fit?

Axed Fremantle forward Cam McCarthy says he is open to continuing his AFL career outside of WA, with Collingwood his club of choice.

The 25-year-old parted ways with the Dockers earlier this month after 49 games in four seasons, leaving before his contract expired after being told he was not going to be offered a deal for 2021.

McCarthy said he still loved the game and would head interstate to add to his 70 AFL games, despite returning to WA from GWS at the end of 2015 because of homesickness.

“I will play at South Fremantle next year … hopefully I cruise back in soon,” McCarthy told The Jamo & Dylan Show.

“My passion is playing AFL footy and getting the best out of myself. I still think I have a fair bit to give. I am not satisfied stopping now.

“I still love it and hopefully, one day make it back into the AFL.

“Everyone’s like ‘you’re playing footy, like it’s the best job ever’ and it’s not really. You’ve got pre-season, which is like so hard and then you’ve got footy and if you’re not performing, it’s like if you’re not performing work, you could get cut.”

When asked which club he would go to if he had a choice, McCarthy nominated the Magpies

“I’ve always said that from day one, I was like Collingwood,” he said.

“Obviously I wish I would have played for Freo for the rest of my career.”

McCarthy said the decision to leave the Dockers was the best thing for him after not enjoying the hub experience earlier in the season.

“When I asked Freo … if I am not getting another contract I don’t see any point (going back to Queensland) and if I’m not going to play, why would I go back over to another hub and sit there for five weeks?,” he said.

“Imagine being stuck in a hotel for a couple of weeks. I was like ‘I am not going through that again’.

“I would lose my mind.”

McCarthy had no ill feelings towards the Dockers, saying they were going in the right direction and had big wraps for their young midfield.

“JL (Justin Longmuir) is doing a good job down there,” he said.

“They’re going to be a serious side in the next couple of years, trust me.

“And Caleb Serong, weapon. Adam Cerra, gun. (Andrew) Brayshaw, gun. And then you’ve got blokes like Alex Pearce, Joel Hamling missing. Imagine having them in the squad.”

West Coast v Essendon: Bombers’ finals hopes all but dashed after falling short against Eagles

Essendon looked as if it might pull off a second-straight miracle comeback against West Coast. But the Eagles’ class shone through in the final quarter, leaving the Bombers’ season at a crossroads.

West Coast has staked its claim for a vital top four finish after all but putting an end to Essendon’s final aspirations with an 15-point victory at the Gabba on Tuesday night.

The Eagles led at every change although the victory was not without its moments after they squandered a 34-point lead midway through the second quarter as Essendon surged to within nine points in the third term.

The Bombers fought back with four straight goals, despite losing productive midfielder Andrew McGrath with an ankle injury before halftime, through the hard running of midfield duo Zach Merrett and Dylan Shiel and half forward Anthony McDonald-Tipungwati (four goals).

However, the Eagles steadied with two late goals in the third term and including a career-first for Tom Cole in his 52nd game.

RYAN NOT JUST A DANGEROUS FORWARD

Cole’s milestone was set by lively West Coast forward Liam Ryan who bagged four majors of his own including three from set shots inside 50m.

Ryan proved a handful for Essendon’s defence deep in attack and he was just as creative further afield.

His game turning moment came when he won a contested ball off the deck in the middle of the ground and found Jetta out wide who kicked to Jack Darling who in turn found Cole in the teeth-of-goal.

He followed up with a goal on the siren that stopped Esseondon’s momentum and provided much needed breathing space as Enndon continued to fight it out to the death.

The 23-year-old proved the perfect replacement for regular spearhead Josh Kennedy who was unavailable after suffering concussion last week.

HEPPELL SHOWS WHY HE’S BEEN MISSED

Essendon captain Dyson Heppell, who was playing his first game since fracturing an ankle in late June and only his second for the season, ignited a mini-second quarter revival with his only kick in the first half.

The 28-year-old first scrambled for, and won, possession at ground level inside the Bombers’ forward 50m and moments later found himself on the end of Matt Guelfi handpass to swing on to his left foot and slot a goal.

It dragged the Bombers within 28 points and after goals from Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti and James Stewart, which survived a contentious review, the margin was sliced to 16 points by the lone break.

Heppell had no fewer than five opponents in the first half including West Coast midfield dynamos Andrew Gaff and Dom Sheed, with none really paying too much close attention to their own detriment as he racked up quality disposals.

DANIHER’S SECOND GAME NOT SO GREAT

Even a piece of Heppell brilliance brought about Joe Daniher’s first set shot for the evening.

Heppell pulled off a visionary dish-off over his head which led to Daniher taking a mark inside forward 50m, but instead of using the allocated 30 seconds to shoot for goal, the 26-year-old played on and made a meal of it as he did with a set shot from 20m that would have cut the margin to 10 points midway through the third term.

It wasn’t the best of nights for Daniher who bagged three goals in his return match last week although he at least presented the Bombers with a formidable target and not just deep in attack, often presenting across centre-half back.

He finished with three behinds from six kicks and half a dozen marks

Hope Essendoom sign up Dodoro for the next 846583256386328653259 yrs!

Hope so because otherwise you just know they’ll come and try to poach ours. Joke of a club.
