Amazing to think that Duckwood almost got through his entire career, being lauded by the media and entire industry, before the AFL decided to "tighten the interpretation" of ducking (cheating). Over 1000 free kicks he's received, most of which would have been for ducking his head into tackles to draw free kicks. That's more free kicks than any player in history and now that it's become a stain on the game and entrenched in many players arsenal, the AFL decide to do something about it. Pathetic shutting the gate after the cheating little striped horse has bolted.

Anyone trying to compare Dusty's fend off with Selwood's ducking is forgetting one thing, what Dusty does is legal and he NEVER gets paid a free kick for fending someone off. Occasionally he gets a free AGAINST for fends that go a little high.

It still staggers me that Cheatwood is seen as the best and bravest captain in the league when his behaviour has caused a slew of copycat offenders, poses dangerous problems in terms of potential concussions and isn't "brave" at all. It's reckless, stupid and just makes him a confirmed cheat, as evidenced by the AFL FINALLY addressing it. Imo Duckwood has brought himself and the game into disrepute with his unrestrained (indeed applauded) cheating action (remember the rule is that if you intentionally duck your head to draw a free kick it's against the rules and SHOULD BE a free kick to the tackler) and the quicker the little shit is booted out of football or retires, the better the game will be for him being gone.

Anyone, AFL commentators particularly, who have raised this bloke up by blowing hot air up his foo foo valve throughout his entire career need to take a good long look at themselves in the mirror. Managed to sneak that in.

He's a cheat, he's got by through cheating and imo his legacy will always reflect that. It's a shame because otherwise he's a fine player. Cheatwood made drawing intentional high contact a thing and he's got away with it up til now for 15 years !

What did they lose by, 5pts ?
