How do St Kilda escape criticism like they do?

Most failed team in the comp, yet you have teams like Carlton and essendon, while deserve criticism still have quite a decorated club history despite having no success in years. Also us before 2017 getting hammered from pillar to post.

Even GC seem to get criticised more.

St Kilda are just a failure year after year.

I dont think they are quite good enough yet. They really should have beaten Hawthorn in Tassie a few weeks ago, and gave it away just like todays game. They are still very young and it shows at crucial times.
