everyone has already forgotten about geelol's gifted flag

such a minnow club

I went in to the Herald Sun shop online to check out the Cats premiership merchandise for my son and here it is a week later and you can still buy the foil posters. I remember our ones being sold out within hours. The Herald person used to come on to our board here and advise when they had some more available.

Well not yet of course. At this point there are only allegations (made by people with nothing to gain I note).

The powerful will have their day.

Nothing to gain ..?? Didn’t you see the report commissioned by the Hawks recommended financial reparations ? The people providing their versions of events had hundreds of thousands of reasons to ‘chuck a little mayo’ on their ‘truth’. Not saying they lied, but don’t be naive enough to think there was nothing to gain.

The worst part of this is not that he went to Geelong, but he came from Geelong and then went back there.

Listening to the media clowns who say you can't stop people changing jobs, no you can't but you can limit them within the same industry via contracts, which should have been done in this case.

The worst part is he orchestrated a monumental shift in the rules …. ‘Stand!!!’ …. and didn’t even hide the fact he did this after seeing how well Richmond (Cotchin) defensively manned the mark. And it was introduced WITHOUT being put before the rules committee. And WITHOUT a trial in pre-season games or any trial at all. Then…..the kicker….

SHocking goes to Geelong a year later, the team who constantly lost to the Tigers due to not being able to handle our pressure and a team in Geelong who relied on precise ball movement.

It’s an absolute farce from top to bottom.

conspiracy theorist!!!!!!!!! :drunk:

conspiracy theorist!!!!!!!!! :drunk:

It’s not a conspiracy, they are facts:

1. SHocking introduced the stand rule without taking it via the rules committee or trialling it.

2. He did it as he noted how the best team of the era was able to stifle ball movement by aggressively manning the mark.

3. He is an ex-Geelong player who then moved to Geelong to work.

Don’t you find it amusing that regardless of motives no-one bats an eyelid at that …..

It’s like an ex LA lakers player being GM of basketball in the NBA, but noting that the game was being overly dominated by 3-point shooting, (which coincidentally was the Achilles heel of the Lakers).

Then this GM of basketball bypasses the NBA’s rules committee and brings the 3-point line out a foot with no trial.

Then a year later this ex LA Lakers player goes back to work at the Lakers, who surprise surprise were now dominating as they were poor at 3-point shooting but dominant inside the paint.

They then win the NBA title in a canter.

The rules may have been introduced with good intentions, but if you find that an acceptable passage of monumental rule changes under such massive conflict of interest then I dips my lid to ya.

Mate, Hawthorn went to THEM, not the other way around. That report has not been released or leaked as far as I know.

The ABC separately went and got a story.

These people did not seek out financial gain.

Personally I think it’s likely that Clarkson is just ignorant and unaware of the effect his coaching methods had on some. And that is not an excuse.

ABC story was from first hand interviews, yes. Pretty sure it was reported the report was leaked to the Herald Sun, but well after the ABC article was released.

I’ve read the report in full. Herald Sun has it. The report recommended financial reparations. Of course Egan would have discussed what recommendations he was going to make in regards to punishment / compensation etc…

Then AFTER they’d spoken to Egan for the report, they gave separate interviews to the ABC reporter and this is what became front page news. I assume the reporter got leaked the report or had somehow gotten wind of the story brewing …no idea?

As to the motivations to take the details provided in what at that time was still a confidential report to the media via additional interviews … I’ve got no idea.

Needs to find a retirement home. In my eyes he might have played for us many moons ago but its obvious that Essendon and GWS are higher on his list.

Remember him take a shot at us before the 2019 GF, Sheedy is not welcome and not a Richmond man.
au contraire, he is richmond man through and through. he is waging a 1 man campaign doing his best to make sure essendon's finals losing streak lasts as long as possible

Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett plays down racism claims

The outgoing Hawthorn president, Jeff Kennett, has called the leaking of racism allegations at the AFL club “unfair” and hopes the unfolding saga can be resolved by the end of the year.

Speaking at the club’s best and fairest awards function on Saturday night, the former Victorian premier said the club was not in crisis and he described the issue as a “bump along the highway”.

But he told the audience he was “somewhat flabbergasted – and worse” when he read the draft report of the club’s internal review into the experiences of Indigenous players and their partners while at Hawthorn.

Former coach Alastair Clarkson, his then assistant, Chris Fagan, and former development manager Jason Burt were named in the cultural review.

Kennett said on Saturday:

I do not consider this to be a crisis. When I read the draft report … I was somewhat flabbergasted and worse.
It wasn’t a good read. I hope this matter can be resolved quickly by all parties involved.
Kennett said the people interviewed for the report had requested confidentiality and Hawthorn respected that.

Sadly, they made a decision to talk to the press … they named people with whom they had very real issues.
That was unfair to those [people] so therefore we need to have this resolved.
I don’t see this as a crisis – I know this club, I know its history and I know its strength.
We will deal with this and assist in any way we can.
Clarkson said on Wednesday the allegations were “false and deeply offensive” and those close to him knew “how important family is to me”. Fagan, now coaching the Brisbane Lions, released a statement categorically denying the allegations against him. Burt last week released a statement to “categorically deny the conduct attributed to me in the media”.

Kennett said the issues were historic and called on any Hawthorn employees to tell the club at the time if they believed there was inappropriate behaviour.

The one thing the investigation showed was that we have a safe cultural workplace now. So these are issues of the past.
Kennett said he hoped there could be some form of mediation so any issues could be resolved quickly. At the end of his speech, Kennett insisted the Hawks would “overcome” the issue.

Understand this as being a bump along the highway but … it is an important bump and it has to be dealt with professionally.

Always good to get the thoughts on racism from a lifelong golliwog collector.

It just stinks of a joke league, what sort of industry allows a person who has control over the laws of the game to leave that job and join one of the participant clubs?

It’s as corrupt as it gets

which is my point. those accused were blindsided by the publication. if those who made the allegations now refuse to subject themselves 2 having them tested there will b a stain on the character of those accused forever.
