Geelong FC President wants the AFL to credit Geelong FC with “Premierships” his team “won" before the AFL predecessor the VFL was even formed as a breakaway, from the Association in which his team was playing for some of that time. And the Association itself did not even recognise those as Premierships. This was because the competition was not formally organised at the time to decide a Premier team. So this uber campaigner is seriously trying to claim “Premierships” “won" against sometimes as few as 4 other clubs who did not even know they were competing for a title.

As soon as the competition was formally organised to decide a Premier(though even then not completely credibly as teams did not immediately play the same amount of games as each other, nor against the same opponents, nor were their finals series to sort out any anomalies created by the uneven fixturing) what happened? Geelong did not win anything for almost 40 years in either the VFA or the VFL competition, that is what happened. Probably exactly what would have happened if rival clubs knew they were competing for Premierships in the years before 1888.

Here's an idea - calculate the "Premiership Score" by adding up the number of teams playing in the year a club won a flag.

That means the last 11 flags have been worth 18 points, whereas those joke ones in the early days are only worth 8 points. Suddenly Collingwood and Melbourne are looking pretty shitful.

This has only been brought up since we won our 3 flags the adding Flags from a completely different comp.

the biggest issue is its another league. he is trying to change history and make afl a term to describe vfl/afl (which is the same thing) AND the vfa which continued to exist separately for 100 years after the vfl was formed
