gaints had 1.5k supporters at the 2017 pf, they said it. gws has grown their fanbase since then. they have 30k members now whereas in 2017 they had a few campaigners + gill and his men

so our crowd in 2017 had more Richmond supporters than pies last night. the 2017 prelim is still the most one sided crowd in history

I said back then it would never be replicated because gws would never have as little supporters as they did in 2017

I think the harsh reality is last year and this year the more talented teams imploded/ didn't have balance (GWS start of the year let them down, bulldogs, melbourne bringing grundy in when they needed a forward) so it was a couple of premierships on the table. Our group/ dimma didn't have the hunger and luck. Maybe we make our own luck and with a different coach/ fly in 2022 or Kingsley in 2023 we would have been right in it. Dimma wanted to do the right thing by the players but by not dropping out of form older players it really cost us. I think hopper was a stretch too, taranto prestia cotchin with bolton Martin in the middle would have been fine. Those 2 draft picks for Hopper would have been better spent on a KPF and Jack bowing out last year. Anyway that is living in the past. I just think with their talent GWS will be a top 4 team for a few years now and right in it. Bulldogs got lucky with father sons and have a great spine,
