they are saying that it's the greatest premiership of all time and that they can't see anyone stopping them for the next 3 years fmd
So they're good at story telling as well now! This is where you should tell them to tell their story walking, and to stop pretending that the AFL didn't lower the heat in the kitchen, I mean they could hardly tell 17 other teams to get out of the kitchen.

Disagree, Cats only need to turn up to that shithole home ground of theirs to bank 8 wins, then play a few s**t teams elsewhere and finals near guaranteed for what is in reality a 9-13 level of performance.
Nope, can't fall into the eight because if you could fall into the 8 the cats surely would've fallen in this year.

It's a shit term purely for people who want to downplay an achievement.

Call it what you like. 2022 not a great season from RFC. And indeed straight out in a final we should have won.
Combo of Lynch non goal and 5 RFC players not been able to mark a footy. Or spoil it over the line.
Daniher crumbs a goal
Really, those close losses you spoke off if they were wins would've had Richmond finishing 2nd on the ladder, highest scoring team of the year too by the way, 4th highest percentage to boot, seems a good season to me despite what happened in the finals.

Chuck in a rusty Dusty, injured Prestia
You could argue that we played well to make the 8 in 2022. The only thing we can wonder about is would we of lost all those close games in '22 if we were allowed to bring our customary heat?

I watched the 2020 GF on the weekend.
I just don’t get what the problem is with the man on the mark. The solution is to create this stupid free run. It hasn’t helped scoring, it’s probably reduced turnovers and created a basketball style defence where everyone simply falls back. Teams now take turns with the ball due to this stupid rule.
I’d like to see some hard evidence that precipitated this move. It’s a major change to the game and requires an evidence based thesis to justify it.
I won’t hold my breath.
it's opened up the play and allowed for faster ball movement - simple. but, having a disagreement over that doesn't bother me. it's the whining bullshit that it's the reason for our change in fortune that gets up my nose. anyone who knows the first thing about the game, including those inside the club, know there were a multiplicity of reasons for our poorer performances.

I'm a simple old fool. The only thing I care about is flags.
So, give me the pies 7 goal finals wins over 2022 RFC and our high scoring losses
Maybe I'm a bit scarred from 72.

You got it.
In one patch this season we beat GWS,
Freo and St Kilda and then get smacked by Brisbane. We go on to beat Sydney, West Coast, Hawthorn.
Six wins in seven weeks, yet the 'stand rule' cops a hammering only once in a month and a half.
The stand rule is three years old - move on. We have won plenty of games since.

Well that's not my argument.

My point is the stand rule achieves nothing of value for such a major change. Was brought in with little to zero evidence based justification, very little practical demonstration and really just moves defensive structures to a different part of the ground.
"STAND, STAND" has morphed into "Outside 5, outside 5". They've got to be kidding.
Scoring has barely changed for such a major change (I bet they thought there'd be a massive increase. Idiots)

And now after a few years of it, guess what, umpires are using discretion on what constitutes stand. eg Sicily vs us when JR took a mark on 50. How much latitude??? FFS he moved 10m, no 50m penalty.
Then you get the one against Markov in the GF. He was way over the mark and merely backpedalled, amongst deafening noise. 50m and goal to Lions in a tight GF.

It's a ****ing joke of a rule. Helps no one, creates confusion with widening discretion by umpires and should be reversed.

Totally agree...the Stand rule...was introduced at an indecent haste with absolutely no priors...straight out of the blue!
A Sheet Rule...for a sheet result...by a sheet run AFL Old Boys Club...

I concede I don't understand the modern game. but pre 666 I think RFC used to set up most with 7 in the backline, we coped with that. State of the Game rule changes : no worries.

I know some teams would set up to lose clearances but then rebound out of the back half and win like that. Us? So frees against, in most places on the ground would be to RFC advantage. Seemed like strategy to me.

RFC again in 21 the most frees against, but now a rule with a brutal 50m penalty. Its mostly on the players It seemed like no adjustment of our heat. Soft cap cuts plus COVID 100k fine lead to Asst Coach drain

2017 George, Butler and D Rioli were a combo of skills, pressure and goals By 22 George was a shadow of his peak footy. Aarts not quite good enough and Mansell & MRJ playing small fwd over the past 2 seasons.

Hopper, Tarranto, Graham, Pestia, Cotch didn't work in the middle or up fwd. Solved one problem created another

They're gonna run out of good veterans to poach at some point and face plant with no access to the top 10 outside of dodgy deals with suns.

Name a rule change that ever got trialled?
State of the game changes? No. Dissent? No.4 umps? I think you get the picture.
Again I'm not in Victoria so I hear no media.
Demetriou wanted to give no oxygen to other sports codes.
I'm sure everyone who followed him is on the same mission.
Laura and the aflw interchange changes.
"A better balance between offence and defence"
2023 pies flag winners with a score to that Roos and Malthouse would be happy with

yep it just makes teams flood back more, very slightly increases the boring end-to-end uncontested slingshot netball footy, and makes for horrible viewing whenever a player gets to freely run around a man that is stuck to the ground - it doesn't matter how "free-flowing" they tell us it is, it is disgraceful to watch and negatively affects the spectacle

and like you alluded to, they know it is a shit rule, which is why they've slowly walked it back month by month with ump interpretations, but are too far up their own arses to remove it completely

As good a player as Oliver is, I wouldn't want him at Richmond. Not with the drug allegations. We couldn't afford him anyway. Melbourne have a real problem on their hands with that bloke. Grundy as good as gone. Harmes wants out. All the talk of a Dees dynasty only 2 years ago. That ain't going too well !!
Did someone say drugs? Hold my beer

pie morons at work unbearable this week

Dynasty hey

According to the comments they are the biggest and best club on earth ever 🤮 FMD they fell across the line

The Collingwood B&F is on every year. Why have Foxtel only chosen to show it to their supporters this year?

Surely they're not suggesting the Collingwood supporters are bandwagoners?
