Cats playing a completely different style to the pre season game against us.
Another reason not to gain hope off pre season performances.
1960's bang it long
Not sure why they haven't done it in the past
They're getting too old to run and possess so why not play to your strengths of strong marking forwards?
We'll see how the gameplan holds up through June July

They tried a bit of that against us just wasn't coming off for them. Clearly more intensity now as well.
As someone who played a couple of hundred games in defence there's nothing worse than the ball coming into your D50 time and time again with no numbers back.I've always found it weird that coaches don't try it more but there's an anally retentive streak that says don't give up possession/maintain possession at all costs
True enough in basketball ice hockey and soccer but with the size of our grounds and the chance to win the ball back the risk reward seems achievable

Different to a dewy night Metricon to a beautiful day at the mcg.

There’s a reason why we play a lot better at marvel

Oh dear.Essendon defenders just standing still watching the ball sail over their heads then abusing their team mates
He will have 2 okay game this year though and we will be told we were idiots for letting him go!!!
And I'll be leading the choir because I'll never admit I'm wrong.I'm told it's a strong character trait.

Valid point about real stuff vs practice matches though
Hard to imagine we'd be any closer than Essendon if they played like this but having said that I'd hope Touk Rowell Swallow Anderson and Powell wouldn't let their old codgers run in space like they have today

Matthew Lloyd got on the front foot bagging us the day after King announced he was re-signing.

"Peter Wright is already a much better player at the bombers than he was at the suns"

We'll, yes, he's another year older.
The team he played in actually won games which has to help a full forward.
And even then.. he's not that much better.

Lloyd is living in hope like we did for years with him. The bombers are expecting a big year and just like wright it will be a flop once again

Even if the pies lost last night, I was just very happy to go to the footy again. Was electric atmosphere. But I'm very happy with how they played. That Daicos kid can play. Also.. pick 43 for Lipinski is turning out pretty good.

If you didn't know any better, you'd think Ollie Henry's 1st goal was Pendles haha, the way he moved around 4 defenders.

500% spot on. Keeping possession with endless short kicks was what shit teams used to do, but it just gives your marking CHB or RR time to get into position and organise the wall. Didn’t bother me how long they chipped it around the boundary line or went backwards. Sooner or later they have to centre it, you mark it and feed it out to your runners.

We're about to find out if we should have gone harder for Coleman-Jones...

Greenwood and Aaron Hall are also playing for North. O'Meara and Scrimshaw are playing for Hawthorn.

If I hadn't had to work this morning, I probably would have gone to the game in my Suns gear for a laugh (and held up a sign with photos of the aforementioned players when they were with us)

It’s a shocking game regardless of how much the commentary try to make it sound like it.. it’s a battle of who is the worst of each other

Some real brain fades occurring too. Coleman-Jones actually kicked a goal just before but it was disallowed because one of the North players decided to give away a free as CCJ was running in to kick it.
