We play Hawthorn in Darwin after a 5 day break. From memory we were the last team to smash them before they got their poo together and went on that massive run. I remember Sam Mitchell was absolutely livid so i expect him to have them up and about for that game. I think we have the speed to match and the pressure to force mistakes in their exceptional kicking game, it's a long way away but I'm expecting something special from this match
Their midfield is a massive weak point. If we can win stoppage and spread well, they are very beatable. If we play long, slow and wide, we will get smashed.

Meek, Newcombe, Worpel, Day... they're solid enough through there but strong at either end. They're like the anti-port
Their midfield is good enough, yes, but they usually lose the clearances by a decent margin, especially around the ground. A very good midfield could just bowl them over completely.

They are very good at attacking from half-back and quite efficient going forward though. One of the better end-to-end teams in the comp as well. So if teams waste defensive entries, they can really capitalise on the rebound.

Screw Essendon seriously. Rankine would’ve signed if they never got in his head. Making Crows put in a real offer

That goal was ridiculous
Elite goal, shades of buddy’s GOTY
Rankine just got subbed out. My concern with him has always been that he seems to be very injury prone. Even when he was on the Gold Coast.

Poor Luko. Knee injury
Is Jack Lukosius our version of Anthony Davis? It's an NBA reference to the Luka Doncic trade for those who don't know.

Keeping in mind, Luko was traded for Noble and two first rounders that will allow us to draft special talent like Zeke Uwland later this year.

How could you forget Atkins.

BTW, this was the trade.
In summary, the SUNS will receive John Noble, pick 39 and two future first-round selections (tied to Collingwood and Port Adelaide) in exchange for Lukosius, Atkins, and picks 13, 29 and 50 in the 2024 Telstra AFL Draft.

Ah yes. How could I forget the Rat.

Assuming we use those future first round picks on our academy players later this year, I think the trade is going to end up looking far better for us than them in the long run.

Goes to show that any team can be competitive on their day, or be uncompetitive for large chunks of a game.

But boy it would be nice if a few lower teams could jag some wins from our competitors (and not from us!)

It would be novel if a team we traded future picks with actually got worse, instead of jumping ten positions or winning a premiership.
Very early in the season but both Essendon and Port looked like bottom 6 teams. Hard to watch the game.

Captain Rozee under scrutiny and rightly so. He turned a bit into Lukosius - soft in contest. Glad we got our captain.

Both have no forward structure & pressure

This port pick is gonna be elite, wish it had a Nick Watson type

If we beat Melbourne handily they might be down there too.

Bottom 7??

Wce
Richmond
Essendon
Port
St Kilda
Melbourne
Nm
??

Next tier fighting for 11th-4th could be Freo, dogs, Carlton, Sydney, Collingwood, Geelong, Adelaide and us?

Top teams: bris, gws, hawthorn?
