Watch out this season. Scum are going to be the umpires favs. Some shocking decisions in the last that favoured the scum.

The umpiring early game looked like it favoured the Lions with questionable calls.

It probably balanced out across the whole game.

Umpires were rusty. Plus it showed that if you’re first to the footy the umpires will generally look after you.

No Walsh and no Weitering and no Martin yet they still beat the Lions, who were close to full strength. As much as l despise them, you have to give them credit for a great win. The real question is what does this say about Brisbane???? Might have to revise my Collingwood Brisbane GF prediction.

Lions had Ashcroft out, although he’s not due back until late season.

This is an awful result. Already I’ve had to put up with a Carlton ‘friend’ gloating at me. And Carlton looked so happy after the game.

I fear it’s gonna be a long and hard season.😱

Don’t stress VP. It will be all the sweeter to see their hope extinguished.

Did they look as happy as they did when they were 5 goals up in the prelim last year?

I actually like them seeing them get their hope up.

Well after last nights game and with how all my Carlton supporting mates are acting, they are now the minor premiers before round 1 starts.

It was enjoyable whilst it lasted. Congrats to the blues on the GF win.

Second half in particular was chalk and cheese compared to the gf. All of their x-factor players had moments in the gf and they were slotting goals from anywhere.

Thankfully we also nailed the key moments and kicked goals at crucial times.
I think we need to remember that too. In the GF they nailed some X factor goals they wouldn’t usually get all of, ( with assistance of a couple of umpiring decisions) whilst Collingwood almost kicked themselves out of contention in the third quarter .

In more normal circumstances ( they only nail a few X factor goals, umpire doesn’t stuff up gifting them two goals and Collingwood scores more than one goal in Q3) and we win the GF by 4-5 goals

yep, were were a 4-5 goal better side on the day, just didn't put them away when we had the opportunities.
Made for a cracking game though.

You could see the lions players realise how long the road is back to the GF in that last quarter. God they must be feeling the GF loss even more now, knowing how even the comp is this year.

Against the tankers in the Prelim last year, it was Connor McKenna and Keidean Coleman who turned the tide and cut them up after a slow, umpire hampered start. After half-time last night, beginning 31 points up, neither of those guys were playing and the result kinda spoke for itself.

True, on another day we could have got that 4-5 goal margin. A few moments aside like Neale not running with Daicos on that handball, but they played very close to their best in an open game that suited their style.

Grand final day it doesn’t matter what you win by though.

Reckon criticism of Neale was a big harsh. He followed Nick but wasn’t quick enough.

Didnt see the game. Any reason to think Brisbane or Blues have improved thier gameplans at all?

Probably too early to tell. Brisbane got stitched up by Port in Round 1 last year, granted Port turned out to be a good side last year. On the other hand Carlton were missing Walsh and Weitering (some of the other "outs" have been overstated).

Worrying signs for both, but good signs for both. Both bled a lot of quick goals with limited ability to stem or wrestle back momentum.

I saw mostly good signs for both. Entertaining game although obviously both sides need to learn to stop runons.

My cardiologist and psychiatrist both suggest otherwise
