Toast Our undermanned defence

I cringe when people use basic stats as a measure of performance. I've watched enough of Tuohy to know that under pressure he can be a liability. A few Cartlon supporting mates warned me about it too.

Ignorance is assuming it's false based purely on disposal numbers. Tuohy plays well when linking up and using his foot skills to his advantage (even then he can be hit and miss at times) and relies on the midfield getting back in numbers to chop him out. he's not good one on one and he certainly isn't a defender in the true sense.

He does. It's not a fallacy.

That sends the wrong message imo. You can't drop players in form. Some lose confidence entirely if sent back to VFL level after a good performance. He's improving each week and feeling comfortable at this level ... he needs to be retained to keep building on it. The only way you can drop him now is If he has a poor game or two.

I said Taylor can't come back through the VFL but that's probably the only option given how our defense has performed. Unless they want to use him up forward given Menzel is sore and the likely suspension of Hawkins for scratching the polish off an umpires nail.
You are kidding yourself on a number of fronts here. Your suggestion that Tuohy has been anything other than excellent is ridiculous. He has had one bad game where he was tagged out as a flanker. Longmire obviously thinks the opposite to you, but what would he know, right?

And you are kidding yourself if you think Taylor is not a better player than Henry. It doesn't matter how good Henry has been, as a KPF, he is not a better option than either Taylor or Blicavs.

And regarding sending the wrong message, I think the club would have communicated with him what will happen on Taylor's return well before this week - there will be no surprises.

I've heard Taylor doesn't agree with your assessment, he thinks the match simulation practice in training has been enough for him to come straight back into the AFL side.
And? You don't know that it isn't enough.

He'd almost certainly be playing on better opponents in our match simulation than when up against some of the teenage key forwards AFL clubs have developing in their VFL teams, or when faced with the inexorable might of Frankston.

Just saying that they won't fit the team around him. He will walk into the side and make it better. Someone in that back six who is unlucky will miss out. We won't be playing Taylor out of position.
We've been playing Taylor at both ends over the past several years.

No matter how good you are, no one has the right to just walk back in IMO.

Maybe after missing a week or so but not over a month.

I'm not suggesting that. I was responding to your comment that they won't upset the back six when he is ready. They will, and it will be one of the KPFs who go, otherwise we will be too tall. No way Taylor plays forward.

You think they'll drop Sav or Hawkins for Taylor?

When Taylor is right to go

Blicavs takes the #1 key forward
Taylor takes the #2 key forward
Stewart is the plus 1
Kolodjashnij takes a mid sized forward
Everyone else moves down a spot.
Z.Guthrie goes out.

When Henderson is back he becomes the plus one, everyone else moves down a spot,
Injury or form will decide who goes out.

Might want to read the post again champ before drinking the cool aid.

Mmmhmmm, yep Tuohy is still an excellent hbf and Henry isn't gonna get a gig over Taylor, no matter how is form has been.
I never said he wasn't. I said he can be a liability under pressure. It's not just me that shares this viewpoint either.

And regarding Henry, I never said that either. I said Henry won't get dropped and nor should he.

Come on, if they ever play Selwood, Danger or Gaz in the twos after a lay off I ain't watching anymore. I don't have to worry though, some players are simply not meant to be in the twos.

What a difference a month makes.

A month ago we were dead last for clearances and mid rung for contested possessions.
Conceding over 100 points a game.
Conceding the most inside 50s.
