I can't see why anyone other than KV and to a lesser extent us, and I don't think we do, should have an issue with Tatongs jumper ( and I'm not sticking up for Tatong ).

This whole "Clash" scenario regardless of which league it's in is absolute crap and is something that was driven by the media to aid the AFL in selling more merchandise, correct me if I'm wrong. After all the VFL / AFL clubs played each other for over 100 years often in attrocious conditions with, for the better part of it, only one umpire who always wore white.

Unless jumpers are that close in colour and design that they are indistinguishable there shouldn't be a need to change them after all BOTH clubs have to put up with it not just one. If you are playing and you don't know who your team mates are or the sound of their voices or what colour shorts your team has on that day then there is a huge on field communication problem that needs to be overcome. Asking for total contrast is a cop out.

I think people need to stop watching the footy show and have some original thoughts.
I don't have any issues with clash jumpers slim. As I've stated previously, there has been some confusing moments on the field in the past when we have come up against Bright becuase both jumpers are mainly royal blue. The issues generally arise when players are focusing on the ball when it is in the air, and all you can see below you is a sea of blue. Agree that you should know your teammates by their voice, but there are times when you don't have time to think about it and try to knock the ball to your teams advantage based on what you can see in your indirect vision. I haven't seen the designs of the jumpers for the new clubs, but I can't think of any other sides that would have clash issues.

I think you also need to consider the "paying" public as well though Slim. I dont know why but for some reason against Tiges mob we have a massive clash (and its not only when we are looking into the sun at that superbly placed verandah side at their ground) to the point that in the past we wore white shorts at our home game to try and help the problem . I for one think that why we have the chance we might as well put in the time to try and get it as close to right as possible. And for what its worth i think that if its good enough for one its good enough for all to have an alternative strip in the AFL.

The problem won't be King Valley's because from what I here the proposal looks nothing like theirs, if it did resemble a traditional black and white magpies jumper I am sure we would not have had a problem with it! And for thoses that are saying we should mind our own business or we are being preshus (????), we were asked by the leagues board to view it and give our opinion.

I really don't care either way Pliz, but if as you say their original jumper isn't a problem why then are they being asked to submit new jumper designs or have the board been pedantic. Actually heard Sat nite in the pub they may have to go away from their B&W colours altogether.:confused::confused:

I have absolutly no idea why they are not playing in last years jumper style, I am told our clubs view on the new jumper design was there was to much black, (Black and Navy blue are pretty close) not a hard thing to fix I wouldn't think!?

I've been told it is an issue with the colours too. On another subject, don't know if it has been previously mentioned, but crisis averted - Bonnie Doon will be known as the Doon Dogs.

It's only a minor issue, but it's still too close for my liking. As I've said previously, we often refer to ourselves as the Dogs.

How are numbers going with the new clubs? Have heard that Tatong and Swanpool are struggling and need to have 42 signed a week after the clearance window opens. Was told that Tatong only have 15 or so at the moment...

No idea on Swannie but Tatong have had 20-25 training not sure on quality though...

HA HA tht fixes` your prob Nonch you'll be able to sleep now, as for poor old BK ?????:D:D:D

Will Stan Magro's coaching appt at Myrt have any affect on Bright. Will the player tide ebb back to Myrt.

As i've said previously, i haven't been able to speak to any club officials, but have heard that Bright may have big problems getting senior sides on the field. Apparently Boz has ruffled a few feathers, and the idea of extra travel is putting off some of the fringe players... As far as Myrtleford goes, they want to see Bright remain strong in the o&k, but they will attract players from both Bright and Whorouly.

Probably the last thing both of them need..... Is the travel thing getting over emphasised ?....Other than Doon it's only an extra 20 mins a couple of times a year if you're unlucky...

Just read on the picola thread that Rennie have lost players to "The bank of Mcphail at Glenrowan"

Is this a new bank just opened in glenrowan or are the club lucky enough to have a very generous sponsor?

Think they may have followed their coach that was there from earlier in the season, he was sacked part way through year after not winning a game, then played season out with glenrowan, not sure of his name though!

Datto, the coach Scott Lewis was sacked for a number of reasons. Not winning a game was not one of them. Nothing positive would be achieved by divulging those reasons. The fact that the former coach's cousins and uncles remain at the club as players and sponsors vindicates the club's decision.

One of the players who went across did it purely for the $ (as he does every year going from club to club). The other player is a quality bloke who couldn't find a travelling mate to keep coming out to Rennie from Wodonga in 2010. Good luck to those two players at Glenrowan and they would be welcome back with us any time.

Sorry jesus, i obviously had wrong info

So Jesus `what's the low down on these guys from Rennie...ie their form etc

Good pickups for Glenrowan. Both can play a bit. Horsfall has played some good footy at a number of clubs. On baller and is handy down forward. Likes going for hangers and is a good kick for goal. Cottee a good clubman. Has a bit of height. Played at CHF & FF for Rennie and kicked a few bags. But he is a natural CHB & FB and that is where he is better value. Probably good mid range / depth type players for you. I'd suggest Glenrowan ensure that they train both nights down there though once the season is up and running. The old "We'll train Tuesday nights at Wodonga" and "The car's broken down" line on Thursday nights wears a bit thin after a while .......;)
