Greta- Newbold
North Wang- ?????
I heard that they hawks are close to signing their coach, I really hope that's the case and not wishful thinking. There is no quick fix for them, they need to set a budget that's sustainable year in year out and stick to it and if that means they can only afford to grab 5 handy players this year so be it. Going all out and spending to the point of almost being broke doesn't do any club any good.My heart says I hope North Wang do find a coach in the coming month so they can get recruiting underway and plan for next year... But my head says it's probably not going to happen.
As stated above, it would be an absolute nightmare of a job. Coaching a regular team can often be chaos when you get injuries or players away etc. But the hawks are a whole different level. The position it too hard to be filled. Unless you have people involved in the club that know big names or know of good coaches floating around, they will struggle. It's not as though their president knows a person like Nigel Robinson who can bring 20 of his mates to the club - and the points system won't even allow that anyway.
Also, what happens if we have another wet winter next year and have the same problem we had regarding grounds? I know it's no guaranteed but it could happen... So where will the hawks go then? Surely Tarra (who's ground was crap enough this season with just them on it) won't want a mediocre team on their ground chopping it up whilst they're away? And I couldn't see the O&M clubs liking it too much either - especially if they're hosting finals and the O&K grand final?
I really do wish North Wang all the best and hope they sort something out because no one likes to see clubs struggling or fold. But everything that the league has sorted out for them just isn't logical or sustainable in the long run. Anyone else agree or see similar?
I'm not bagging North Wang at all, but it seems that the league are not looking at the big picture and taking into account the ground problems we had this season when finals were around the corner. Well done to the clubs that have put their hand up to assist the hawks, but I would've thought about all the wear and tear your grounds will get first.
You've heard more than I have. Care to share? You're right about the no quick fix, the key thing will be sustainability for a long time to come IMO and it will be a hard slog for a while I think.I heard that they hawks are close to signing their coach, I really hope that's the case and not wishful thinking. Nothing solid, just got told they are confident/hopeful of being able to announce a coach soon. You've heard more than I have. Care to share? You're right about the no quick fix, the key thing will be sustainability for a long time to come IMO and it will be a hard slog for a while I think.
It's got to be a difficult job trying to organise a coach and players when effectively we dont have our own base or ground.

4 at rovers 4 at maggies 1 at tarra all locked in as the nth wang ground confirmation will be at the end of october all facilities are back and wareena park as a training base greta signing up benalla boys again looking to march up the ladderI've heard that Nth Wang have got rovers and maggies grounds locked in for home games and got there rooms back so don't think grounds an issue!
Any rumours going around ?
Nathan Hooper could be going back to Milawa, but that would leave Whorouly in a tough spot given Scott McMasters has joined Myrtleford as reserves coach.
Haven't heard any names mentioned. Doesn't mean it's not happening tho as I'm not "in the know"Few tarra 2s blokes on th move to greta not happy with being on the fringe and lack of opportunity is what ive heard. Navyblueman can you elaborate?
Heard a whisper a couple of days back that the hooper brothers have had a talk with the powers that be up at the valley! Could say the lions may be on a further slide down the ladder, surprising given they have new facilities and a pretty good ground, thought they might have been able to attract players at least due to those reasons, not looking good at all if they can't find a coach that will bring a few! Any truth that nth wang are very close or have in fact signed a new coach nonch?Nathan Hooper could be going back to Milawa, but that would leave Whorouly in a tough spot given Scott McMasters has joined Myrtleford as reserves coach.
