Personally I think the clubs that spent the big money and recruited extra heavily have been a factor in the mid tier clubs being in this situation.
The mid tier clubs either chose to try and keep up and spent more than was sustainable which resulted in them falling off the pace or they decided they couldn’t compete in an arms race and fell behind even further because players started choosing clubs who paid the most rather than clubs with a great culture.
Milawa and Tarra probably set the tone, a few clubs stretched themselves to keep up, NW barely made it out alive. That 2012 side was a sensational team, but for what? A decade in the wilderness and almost collapse.

Yes, advocating for some decent ones, like the league the umpires have also plummeted south, maybe he could run the boundary with his seeing eye dog? Still gets to be involved in the game without ruining it.
Picked up a new SE god today Tennis Fan . Cross between an oz terroir and a St Bernard . Not sure if a ladder or a trench was involved ?
Any way , fixed up with replacements ( seems that is the go ) . So , on calls of “ ball” ,we‘ll run off with a “ bong , bong ,bong”, and on calls of “ how did he get rid of it ?” , he will look around , and advise “ I just arc my back and dropped it on the far wing” . Look foward to anticipate , look back to learn from history , but never forget to look down 😀.
would advise you have a wet room

Can you tell us all why Glenrowan had to go into recess?
Lack of ongoing support from the community and local businesses, weary volunteers burnt out from shouldering the brunt. Rival clubs played their part too don’t you worry about that. A few ageing body’s were spent by 2017, player numbers dropped and the desire to keep going probably wasn’t there for some young ones. The cashflow never dried up as much as people say. Look at Corowa, no one is immune, it’s no laughing matter.

Is there a reason for the ‘lack of support’ from the community and local businesses?
Why did Glenrowan not patronise the Glenrowan Hotel and instead went into the Northo in Wang? And why did they not get all of there bakery items from the Glenrowan Bakehouse?
Maybe the community didn’t want to support a club when they went to the ground with children they would find certain used items that young people (or adults) should see, and maybe the community was shut out?
Just a few thoughts…

You seem to blame rival clubs a lot as well - can you elaborate why?
Many clubs have gone through successful eras and had ‘ageing body’s’ but still managed to push through despite not having a lot of numbers…

A narcissistic personality disorder causes problems in many areas of life, such as community sport or financial matters. People with narcissistic personality disorder may be generally unhappy and disappointed when they're not given the special favors or admiration that they believe they deserve. They may find their relationships troubled and unfulfilling, and other people may not enjoy being around them.

Treatment for narcissistic personality disorder centers around talk therapy, also called psychotherapy.

Narcissistic personality disorder affects more glenrowan supporters than anyone else and it often begins in the teens or early adulthood. Some children may show traits of narcissism, but this is often typical for their age and doesn't mean they'll go on to develop narcissistic personality disorder.

In case you missed the memo Sponsorships work both ways, I think the club opted for the pub that supported and welcomed them. The club had a great culture and was welcoming to all walks of life, the town shut themselves out and are now with out a footballing/netball community. I blame neighbouring clubs for not entertaining the idea of mergers, these conversations were floated well before the wheels started wobbling, Glenrowan were on the front foot. The place was revived and then some fantastic ideas were tossed around but fell on arrogant deaf ears. As for the used items found laying around, that’s innuendo.

Stay on topic Dr Phil.

Listen here Dazzle, I shouldn’t bite here but I’m seeing red. Such childish comments like yours could only come from one club, the one in which we more than buried on our graveyard, we cremated those bastards then pissed on the ashes. I remember your soft 6ft6 110kg ruckmen with tears in his eyes after we were done with him, your coach shaking in his shoes before the big dance. I was running the water one weekend, I responded to some lip being thrown, not one of those cowards would look me in the eye. I’ll let you in on a little secret, Milawa were the softest side I’d encountered in my 40 plus years in the game, and I’d come across some marshmallows
Are you the vision impaired umpire that that sniffs around for free sandwiches ? I’m not sure your eyesight deems you competent to compare teams from different eras. As for players drinking alcohol during games, nothing makes more of a mockery of the league than that, I don’t like it.
Can’t be serious right? I reckon every team in the league could vouch for seeing Normo sinking tins at half time and that’s a fact. Don’t get me wrong he was a good footballer and good bloke but he certainly enjoyed a can or 2 at half time.

I never saw it, not once, it’s just speculation.

You got a translator ? I know you struggle to see the ball from a distance but surely you can narrow down the keyboard from point blank.

The dog is very smart . He feels sorry for me because I receive so much mail , that’s why he tries to bite the mailman .
Not Confucius , apparently Albert . I doubt it. Still , you might like to read both .

Yo me all of that sounds like excuses..and you seem to put the blame back on everyone else - the pub, the community, other teams - maybe the club needed to look inside its back yard.
Knowing Crimmo very well, I think there is and was more to it..
As for the ‘used items’ not innuendo! Not when one of my children and their friends found some themselves

Andy wants more people through the town, well the football club was bringing 500-600 spectators to each home game, business relationships need to work both ways.

Anyone want to elaborate as to where the 4 premiership cups are? Tf?
That’s irrelevant, to hell with materialistic items, you can’t grip feeling in your hands. I wouldn’t sell the journey for the world. Etched in to folklore will be tales of the ruthless barbaric Kelly Tigers. And guess what? The books not closed just yet, there’s still ink in this old feather, what it writes I can’t be precise, but there will be a future, I can assure you of that. What we have can’t be taken away.

There is some real dribble coming out now. Glenrowan are done. They are not coming back. It is not anyone else's fault and history wont be kind.

Seriously, blaming other clubs for not merging?! Who would want to attach themselves to that sinking ship? What did Glenrowan have to offer? two netballers and a cheating umpire? Or footballers past their prime who demand 2/3rds of the other clubs salary cap?

In terms of lack of support from the community, it is plainly the result of what happens when the entire team is made up of blokes from out of town who just play, pick up their (stupidly large) paycheck and then bugger off. Personally I have gone into the Glenrowan clubrooms after a game to have a beer with the opposition, only to be met with two old blokes who have been sitting at the bar all day and an otherwise empty room. Bar shuts five minutes later because the Glenrowan players have all left. The lack of contributing to the club itself (at the most basic level of hanging around after a game and putting money over the bar or paying for a meal) is reflective of the players contribution to the community.

I can see you are passionate mate, but maybe direct it into something anchored in actual reality...

Maybe he can get involved in a more realistic project like getting Swanpool or Tatong back on the park.
Doubt they would take up his offer though.
