Great start, were challenged a few times but responded and dug in really well defensively especially that 3rd quarter when Spain hit the front. Still very reliant on Mills but looks like FIBA Patty ain't dead just yet.

Would like to formally apologise to Dyson Daniels, much better offensively than I thought he was, been huge.

Unrelated but how TF is Lorenzo Brown allowed to play for Spain? Looked it up and not only is he a born and raised American with no Spanish ancestry, but he's never even played there?? What is the go.
The Spanish coach asked the government to grant him citizenship, and they did.

I love the wording in the government explanation.

He was granted citizenship with a "special exemption ". The exemption criterion was that he "would help the national basketball program"..

Surely you have to at least live in a country? Otherwise what would stop us just granting citizenship to any given American NBA player who's never gonna make the US team?
integrity?

public reaction?

Neither seem to be an issue for them

Fantastic start last night.

Spain aren’t the team they once were but they’re still a quality outfit.

Pushed us and kept coming at us but we responded to each challenge.

Patty Mills is officially my all time favorite Australian Olympian now. He’s just unreal and gets it done time and time again for his country.

I feel there was a lot of doom and gloom about this Boomers team and their chances of progressing. I must admit I shared some of that doubt, but this team has heart, and loads of it. You can never count them out.

While I still question the rotation (mainly the lack of Reath) I see no reason we can’t make a run to the medal games. Good start.

Yet Australia selected Matisse Thybulle for worlds because he spent "about" 7 years in Australia as a young child before returning to his birth country (USA) with his US born mother and father.

Had an Australian passport and lived here. He was eligible, we played him.

Hardly the same as scouting foreign players that have never visited your country, to fill gaps in your national roster.

Did he have citizenship? Or was it granted to allow him to play. Not good if so
