USA is almost certainly still going to win the swimming gold medal tally despite the media feeding the narrative of US failure and Australian success.

The US deserves to be mocked for pretending the total medal tally is what matters, but ultimately they will win both.

The early crow arrogance of Australians on this is pretty amusing (not saying this is you, just using the Marchand vs US point to talk about the media narrative).
This will mean the USA restructure their programs, get Bob Bowman to work with US athletes again, and they will go back to being the dominate swimming nation in LA.

Our champs will be 4 years older, some wont be there in LA.

Still a fantastic meet if we don't win anymore gold. I think we have one more in us though.
yeah made a mistake forgot the extra 2 golds in Tokyo so my calculations were off, think it matches Athens not Tokyo, still 2 less than Tokyo that was pretty much in the same timezone so you more than bloody take that given the more even nature of the sport worldwide at the moment, it matches their best in a European Timezone which historically has been tough to overcome.

What Kaylee has done is incredible, but I do wonder if the 3 year gap from Tokyo compared to the normal 4 years, has been a marginal benefit to her, to be able to do the double double. At this level, so much is about getting that small marginal gain..

Speaking of going the early crow, how did your prediction of “McEvoy inevitably choking” go?

Kaylee was going to struggle to deliver after winning the 200m Back, the mental side more than physical.

Looks like she will sneak thru, yep 7th.

Summer McIntosh didn't look great but who knows how much she was saving for tomorrow night given how much she has swum so far.

Because they‘ve only known completely killing other nations in major swim meets thanks to aliens like Phelps and Ledecky leading the way (Also a nod to Missy Franklin)

They’ll always win the most medals thanks to sheer quantity of decent swimmers but other nations (Australia being the eternal main challenger) have been able to rise up and match them since Tokyo

Marchand & McIntosh at these games
Titmus, McKeown, O’Callaghan, McKeon and friends in ‘21 and 24
The Brits are still damn good in relays
The Chinese as well

It’ll probably be normal business resuming in 2028 on US soil and many of our champions being claimed by time

Nice of Ella Ramsay to sneak in as well, high hopes in the future for her if she can lift her butterfly & freestyle, her backstroke and breaststroke legs are already very good.

I do wonder if by the end of his career Merchand will be considered a better swimmer than Michael Phelps.

Given how utterly dominant Phelps was, it's hard to fathom there is a possibility that someone could actually be better than him.

Marchand, Marchand - keeps marching on and won again and just missed out on knocking off that 2011 WR by 0.06 sec.

Marchand 4 Olympic gold medals - USA at this meet 4 gold medals.

This French crowd inside this ruby arena has gone nuts and being about 18,000 is very loud. With LA using SoFi Stadium and probably a crowd of 30,000, I think Brisbane will have to use Lang Park with a temporary pool, and go and build a decent main stadium.

They surely couldn't do the swimming outdoors though could they?
