Huge last leg by Mollie to get us the silver.
Yep. It was a 51.83 which according to following USA swimming data site sneaks into top 25

If Mollie won the 100m free. I thought she'd win that after winnin the 200m.
She was good enough to win it. But all the nerves plus excitement hangover effect of winning the 200m, combined with no sleep, put her off her game enough to make a difference. In a really short race it doesn't take much. Seemed she'd settled again by the relay.

Just watched the replay package

Congrats to the girls - once again

But Finke - wow - and what I did like is he actually looked pooped

Most swimmers get out of the pool and walk around like it was nothing, climb the stairs and go on about their day as if this was normal

Finkes legs were rubber and he leant on the lane box for support

Channelling Lawrence '' now thats what I wanna see - pain and lots of it''

So Aus needed to take a gold off USA in one more event to top the table- a tie on golds is not enough.

Titmus vs Ledecky in 800m was probably the best chance (very tall order), or if one of the men in the 4x100 free could've given King Kyle a bit more to work with chasing down Dressel.

Depth in the respective men's teams definitely the difference in the end.

Agree with the bolded. Not winning either the men's 400 or 800 free hurt. Mollie O getting beaten in the 100 free also hurt, but there will always be a couple that you expect to win but don't. On the flip side, there was none that we didn't expect to win and won.

China win a gold and the same pathetic people in here with their drug cheat cries.

Interested on your thoughts on the Ethiopian runners, Jamaican sprinters, Mo Farah etc.
The cyclists as well.

Doping is very common in world sport. Some countries and programs are just better at masking it than others.

The difference being China aren't good at masking it.

So had Chalmers got Gold in the 100m we would have tied the US

Mollie in the 100m was a bigger shock, that was the one we expected to get gold in, was still hilarious US losing it still but if we were ever going to equal them, had to win that one as we knew Katie was a stone cold moral in the 800-1500, and they had the 1500m swimmer to come at the back end.

It's not that he's winning, it's how, and a bit of common sense is being applied. We have had some all time greats of the pool in titmus, Ledecky, Sarah Sjostrem and none even went close to their WR'S, Sarah the closest, and every swimmer is stating the pool is turtle slow. Then you have couple of WR's in the relays by a small margin (that's fine that's sort of expected). Compare that to the 100 where you are lowing WR's by near half a second. Lets wait and see whether he sticks around for long, they rarely do and as a result they can cover up easily that way. Least the 1500m juiced record went last night never been so happy an American won.

Yes, but Chalmers performed and hence was the most unlucky to miss out.

Yes sure wasn’t one we were expected to win though. On times we ended where we were expected in that race

So you’re agreeing that drugs are common in world sport yet are staggered when a known drug cheat country are questioned? Mmmm…
