Can Lipinski not be given the midfield minutes we have afforded say a Ned Long?

The fact that the coaching group haven’t provided him as such with the outs we have had is a fail for them.

I wouldn’t care if lippy was an élite skill full handler and finisher but the fact that he’s so bruise free on top of the these things makes him a complete liability who should be replaced

As I have said previously he might play one decent game ever four weeks.

A bit like the Port game - the team was up and about and Lipinski had a good game.

I just don't think he is the type of player that will get the team up and about. N

I doubt he will be traded as Fly brought him to the club and he seems to be in the good books.

If it was up to me I would look to offload him to someone like the Kangaroos for a second round draft pick.

If we’re not going to give him midfield time I don’t see the point in playing him.

As a forward he isn’t a strong overheads marks. Doesn’t have bursts pace on the lead. Doesn’t offer forward pressure. Isn’t dangerous on the crumbs. He’s only skill is he’s a good deliver inside 50 under no pressure but his kicks usually get pressurised anyways because of his lack of pace.

Do we need to talk about Lippa?

I’ve generally been a fan, and thought he was going well in mid-season (July?).

But watching him last night - geez it’s hard to know what’s going through his head. Several less than memorable moments - including one where Brisbane were moving the ball towards the Ponny end goals, and he was just jogging along in the general direction.

I don’t like putting the boots into our players, and would welcome some explanation from the more analytical posters. But it’s hard work defending him ATM.

Game has sped up a notch and he's just too slow.

I would say he would struggle to get a game with most clubs. Really average player who we need to move past. Really disappointing

I could see Reef or Joe Richards doing a better job in that mid to forward link up role. Lippas had 2 good games vs port and dees. I wish I knew what Fly and co see what I don't.

Agree somewhat. Fly is a premiership coach. He and the selection committee see things that we do not.

Two pages back everyone was singing his praises.
Quickly the lynch mob kicked in and want him gone.

He had a good 2022

Injury interrupted 2023 and never recaptured his 2022 form. I thought he seemed tentative about injuring his shoulder again.

Earlier this year he was going well. Seemed back to 2022 form. Was basically kicking a goal a game. Had that game he kicked 4. But past couple of months he’s gone backwards again. He’s very soft in his approach. Seems hesitant to tackle hard. I wonder if he’s carrying a shoulder issue that’s holding him back.

We always have stuff going on in the background we are unaware of.
This is why I dislike the sinking of the boots into any player.
Especially a best 23 player. Premiership player.

if you gonna be soft (yep) ya gotta be fast (nope)
if you gonna be slow (yep) ya gotta be hard (nope) or get a heap of it (nope)

Lippa is both plod slow (with possibly the slowest first 3 steps i've seen on a footy field) and marshmallow soft

yep he's got neat skills but if you can't get it ya'self, ya can't defend or tackle then touching it a dozen times ONLY IF the rest of the team are getting it and feeding it to ya DOESN'T cut it

all of Richards, HH, Sidey and Reef (tank curently an issue though), could do a better job of that forward /mid link-up role

but the other one that hasn't been mentioned is Pendles. for mine, he needs to be phased out or, at least, start fewer Centre Bounces ..he's never had legspeed but most other centre mids do and can just blast past him.

i'd start him in that Lippa high HFF role (next year) and he can then roll up to stoppage and/or rotate on-ball (or go wherever he wants really).

been saying all year that we need to introduce more midfield (and starting CB) options not less ie. +McCreery, Hill, Schultz, Maynard (in short bursts) and possibly a couple of the younger brigade, assuming they come on (Allan, Reef)
