Mitchell is a gun but i personally think Haselby has abit more cream, There is a reason why one got over looked & the other pick one, not saying haselby is better but potentially a threesome of Mitchell Hodge & Haselby all in there prime looks good.

Haselby had big wraps but has been found out to be lacking 1/2 a yard of pace and quite a bit of hardness. He is a front runner that can look brilliant if Freo was killing the opposition, but like so many others, gets found out and goes missing if the chips are down.

Sammy Mitchell is all class and is the current barometer for the Hawks. If he is on fire, we usually win. The reason he was overlooked in the draft was probably due to the facination with drafting athletes rather than footballers a few years ago.

What your saying is true, but a change of enviroment could help him realise his undoubted talent, ppl constantly said brissy's midfield was slow but it didn't effect them they just kept getting the footy forward & winning the hard ball which Haselby will make us even better at, If muston, tucky, young & mossy can kick on + maybe some outside help our midfield will have an extremely good balance that most teams would love to have.

You could have a point.

My final word on this issue and the difference between Mitchell and Haselby are:
Mitchell is one of the quality midfielders in the AFL based on performances. Haselby is one of the most overrated mids in the AFL with a big reputation but yet to deliver a great deal.

Aside from the obvious (Pavlich) the only freo player i would be interested in at hawthorn is Mundy.
Victorian boy that has sublime skills, good size and is deceptively quick across the turf. With Mundy on one back flank and birch on the other we would have the best rebounding half back line in the comp imo.

Yea so far in there careers thats right but when i've seen Haselby fire his been brilliant & kick goals aswell, i think he'd be a welcome addition. If he can get to where he should be his a top 10 midfielder & you dont get the oppurtunity to get one of them to often.

I think anyone who doesn't think a fit Paul Haselby to the club is crazy. If his body was right Paul Haselby is in the top division of elite midfielders. When he was fit and we haven't seen it for a couple of years he could tear games to peices. It would all depend on the peice we have to pay! In my opinion he is a Robert Harvey style player, who is supremely strong through the hips and has a great ability to break tackles, in his mid 20's he may be an extremely handy addition to our side.
