I respect her as she wasnt afraid to give her honest opinion and told it how it was! Its a pity more politicians were not as open instead of being scared.

Open and Honest indeed...

"Yes, your honour, I did embezzle all of that money, like the grabbing scrag I am."

Pauline Hanson walks into McDonalds and the girl at the register says "What the **** are you doing here, we've already got a red-headed clown!"

(Thanks to Rodney Rude for that one).

About time. Both Pauline and David Etteridge deserve an apology, not that they will get it.

I hope they sue the QLD government. And win.

They have my support.

Sure she did the wrong thing there but it was not worthy of that stupid sentence when murderers and rapists get less sometimes.
As for her politics, alot of people like her because she brings up the issues that most politicians are too scared to and they are the issues that alot of the population want brought up.

Hanson has been treated atrociously simply because she dared to speak up for those who have had enough of Political Correctness.

I'm sick to death of the racist tag being thrown around simply because people resent certain groups being given special treatment, not to mention things such as crime and welfare abuse.

What we need is to have equal rights for everyone, and special rights for nobody.

And at the end of the day, I think that there are many, many countries who are far more racist than we ever could be. Isn't it ironic that those who preach tolerance and understanding often can't practice it themselves?

Odd how a stint in prison has changed her attitude on the justice system though. Maybe she needs a stint living in an Aboriginal community next.

There's several threads worth of stuff in this, but suffice it to say I'm just as sick of people complaining that benefits to the most underprivileged in Australia are unequal because (relatively) wealthy mainstream Australia doesn't get that too.

Equality requires that everyone gets to start at the same point if you're going to set the same bar for them in the future.

I'm sure there are (and I'm sure if I ask I'll get a nice long list of which countries). However, I will as always ask what relevance some other country's racism or otherwise has when defining an "acceptable level" of racism in Australia. "Oh, we're a bit racist here, but that's OK, because in XXXXX they're much worse than us". Pure dogs bollocks IMO.

Who's preaching tolerance and understanding and not practising it eh? Examples please....

Bullcrap

The one I voted for was police out patroling the streets rather than revenue collecting.........that's a decent and alternative policy.

How about the failed doctrine of multiculturalism being shoved down our throats, when it clearly doesn't work. Or the outrageous double standards brought about by PC- it's OK for ethnics and Aborigines to be proud of their heritage, their cultures and receive state funding, but somehow this sort of thing doesn't apply to white Anglo-Saxons. Hell, they can even have their own exclusive clubs and institutions- if I ever started up a club "for English people only" I'd be laughed off as a racist.

And don't you see the problems with club level soccer in Australia? With ethnically-based clubs which make people like me (a dedicated soccer fan who wants the best for the game here) feel unwelcome? Is that not a good example of racism too?

If you've been to Sydney you'll see the mayhem brought on this city by ethnically-related crime- what Bilal Skaf and his gang did to four young girls, gangland warfare, drugs, etc. And what do the ethnic lobbies do- yep, they blame us and call us racists when we express outrage.

This is the very reason for antipathy towards minorities, whether it's here in Australia, or in the US andUK. We allow criminals to exploit PC and play the race card, which causes friction and resentment, and ultimately mayhem. Remember Oldham? Bradford? Burnley? Do you want that in your suburb?!?

All that's done, in Britain at least, has let in the NF, BNP, C18 and other such groups exploit antipathy towards minorities and create even more mayhem.

I'm sure there are (and I'm sure if I ask I'll get a nice long list of which countries). Let's face it- EVERYONE has some form of prejudice whether they'll admit it or not. It's how you choose to express on them or act on them which makes a difference.

My points about hypocrisy on behalf of different cultural groups is based on (1) facts, from what I've seen and heard of in different places and (2) personal experiences.

The arguments have degenerated into the predictable, based purely on whether you like Hanson or not.

Much like the holy cow of Oz society.....talkback radio.

Emotion and irrational outbursts, mostly based on media hype.

Examine the known facts.

The whole Hansongate thing resulted in the first place from a CIVIL action brought by one Terry Sharples against Pauline Hanson's One Nation.

Sharples was a former ON candidate and (I think), a qualified CPA

What was Sharples' problem?

Well, apparantly Sharples wasn't too happy about the fact that when he put his hand out for his share of the $500,000 TAX-PAYER funded electoral allowance allocated to ON after the QLD election, he was told where to go.

So he took ON to the Supreme Court...........and won hands down.

This is where things got a bit tricky for Pauline and ON.

The cool half mill was apparantly no-where to be found!!

The whereabouts of this Lotto-like sum of dosh was apparantrly unknown to Pauline or any of her "advisors".

Now amazingly, the DPP got interested in just what might have happened to a lazy $500,000 in TAXPAYERS money, especially when a few rudimentary enquiries revealed the ON had NOT been correctly registered as a Political Party in the state of QLD.

Later on the half mill WAS in fact repaid by Hanson to the QEC, but NOT....repeat....NOT from her own pocket but from the proceeds raised from a "Fighting Fund"

That is..... from funds raised from supporters, donations and gifts under the banner of this "fighting fund".

So, in reality, a half a million dollars of TAXPAYER'S money disappeared, and the got "repaid" from a private fund raising venture.

So the question remains............what ever DID happen to that original $500,000?????????

Until HANSON or ON can come up with an answer to that little poser I will forever remain sceptical as to the supposed "naivety" that so many talk back radio hosts and their atendant audiences seem so keen to hang their collective hats on when professing how "wronged" she was by the horrible Justice system that found her guilty of fraud in the first place.

Now here's the really ironical part.

There are people actually calling for Pauline Hanson to be REFUNDED the $500,000 that "she" repaid to the Elecoral Commission.

"SHE"???

Pauline Hanson repaid...... nothing....zilch....zero to the QEC!!!!

What was repaid was money raised from sympathisers, donors and "supporters".

"Refunding" the dosh to Pauline is a preposterous idea.

How thw f@ckuk can anyone be refunded anything that was not hers in the first place.????

This sentence was outragous.
Around the same time as this case, over here in SA, some 21 year old (son of a rich man) shot some old guy in the face in a drive-by shooting. The rich kid got a suspended sentence and the old guy is now permanently blind.

WTF, this was not fair... However, I think that this case is now being redone, because of intervention from state govt. and public opinion.

I'II tell you where the money is, yesterday Hansen was filmed walking around her farm in Ipswich, either she must have done really well out of the sale of her fish&chip shop or thats where the money went........Dave

Votoupal, you sure you don't write racist column in the Heraldsun under pseudonym " Andrew Bolt"

Pauline Hanson is one of the people I admire, she tells it how it is and is not afraid to say the things that many people are.

She was and still is brillant for Australia!

It's intolerant people like you who will turn Australia into what Germany was fifty years ago.
