Paxman, Molloy ... rumoured sightings ...

Interesting to see that "Green Bay" Paxman is going to Greenvale, considering that this club features/featured a number of players from the Coburg-Fitzroy side of 1999/2000. From memory, I recall seeing the names Bicer and Boukalos amongst their best on a regular basis. It's a shame nobody at the Reds could offer him a job, he stated that he would be going back to his Engineering trade if no AFL clubs picked him up.

The lure of the cash wins out again

Do you think there's any chance we can work on their heartstrings for next season?

This make me feel that we need a more exposed Fitzroy culture surrounding the Reds. I know that its already very explicit, but surely these guys must have been somewhere along the continuum of considering pulling on a Roys guernsey, and perhaps just a little more publicity, or a little more "militant" (thanks FR for the term) expressionism of the Fitzroy chaptor of the Reds may very well sway such considerations in future.

Paxman is going to Greenvale, being paid $1500.00 per game.

Ok ... well ... might be tricky for a VAFA club to compete with THAT! Crikey a VFL club would struggle to compete with that!

Having said that, that adds even more to my argument that we have to aim at the heartstrings, as pursestrings aren't really an option in the Ammos!

What this sport needs is a good war! :D

I seem to recall Molloy stating he felt more of an affiliation to Collingwood than Fitzroy when he returned from Brisbane. If that's the case, wouldn't imagine he's given a lot of thought to any Fitzroy links in his future footy plans.

Gawd I wonder why? Did he play juniors for them or something?

I think Molloy's Dad might have barracked for Collingwood. I know he played for the Roys, but he seemed very keen for Jarrod to play with Collingwood.

Rupert spent the morning at Pattersons Oval, Brunswick Street.
It was the day after 2003GF.

I wonder if he was impressed enough to call it home in 2004?

Molloy will also be a boundary rider with Fox Sports, so will not have time to play this season. He has been training with St Kevin's, because his mate is coaching there & because he was getting fat.

I heard that Jared will be working with the ABC doing special commentaries on match day. Valued for his well articulated and contemporary analysis.

Yes I heard the same thing

Don't believe everything you read Mobbs. I'm involved at Greenvale and if you knew Packo you'd know money is the last thing that would entice him. He is a quality bloke.
We managed to get him because his brother in law is at the club, he lives in the area and he he's been friends with our coach for years.

He had many offers to play VFL footy and coach but he's at the stage where he has nothing more to prove. Unlike your average football Steve is very smart and he's now moved on and started his career as an engineer at a world wide company. He's playing footy coz he loves to, not because he needs to.

I find it strange that if ex AFL guys like Loewe, Molloy, and Steinford go back and play Ammo's it's becasue they love they game and are helping out mates yet if they go back and play in the Metro comps they could only be doing it because they are getting a King's ransom

Thanks for the clarification, BigCat. We're p1s5ed off because we would have loved to have seen Paxman playing in the Fitzroy jumper again. Nothing more, nothing less.

I hope he is able to pass on his expertise & knowledge, a great coup for your club in getting a quality defender that just over 6 months ago was playing AFL finals footy.
