I own every album of all 3 bands you have featured here (except Metallica's latest, which i refuse to buy)

That said, i find it nonsensical to compare (the band formely known as) Metallica to Pearl Jam or to Nirvana.

No offence.

i agree i also own every album of all three but metallicas new album isnt that good compared to there others

Nirvana are the best band in my opinion but i need their rare albums like hoarmoning and outcesticide 3

metallicas best album is probably 'black' or 'ride the lighting'

pearl jams best album woud be 'ten' or 'no code

Nirvana for me, they haven't made music for close to 10 years, and people are still buying their albums.
Don't know about the theory that they would have been just another grunge band if Kurt didn't knock himself off... They were massive before all that happened, thats why it was such a big news story...
Pearl Jam and Metallica are great bands in their own right, and they have the staying power that could have eluded Nirvana, yet I just feel that Nirvana are the superior band.:

If Nirvana was still recording music I wonder where they would sit in relation to the other 2. The problem is my judgement of PJ and Metallica has been clouded by their recent work.

For mine, PJ have produced nothing but old man's rubbish for about 5 years and nothing truly great since Vitalogy.

Metallica have gone from one of the hardest rock bands in the world who would do anything for their fans to 4 guys who are more interested in bankrupting some 16 year old to ensure they get another ivory back scratcher and riding the wave of whatever style of rock is cool at the time.

Chances are Nirvana would have broken up or produced some poor material as well had they continued.

I think Pearl Jam music has stayed great and they are continuing to stamp as a class act, Metallica have withered away from their best work, shame to see that they are not as they were, people change but the transition wasnt to any advantage as its more of a money change than a change in maturity. Nirvana was never going to be a long term thing, Kurt was very ill since childhood and couldnt handle the business, the greatness of the band would of deteriated and people would be bagging them as they do all fading bands, instead they go down as a true icon of talent and talent.

for me it's

3rd: Nirvana, I like Smells like teen spirit, Lithium, Aneurysm, Dumb, Polly, Come as you are, About a Girl, Heart Shaped Box, Drain You............the rest i can't really listen to at all

2nd: Pearl Jam, These 3 songs are merely enough to beat Nirvana - Jeremy, Even Flow, Alive

1st: Metallica, on the strength of 1984 - 1991
(language of the mad)

Metallica, Pearl Jam are a hard two to seperate, of you asked me 12 months ago it would be no contest with Metallica winning hands down.
But after St Anger (which i still beleive is an ok album but not to a metallica standard) compared to Riot Act makes the decision very hard.

Nirvana just.
Then PJ.

they are both awsome bands....

Nirvana would have broken up anyway. Everyone was sick of Kurts problems. Dave Grohl was writing songs before Kurt had killed himself....chances are he would have left. Krist and Kurt had been great mates for a long time...but they had distanced due to kurts herion problem.

Kurt was sick of the old verse corus verse technique and wanted a massive shift in musical direction. He planned to meet up with Michael Stripe of REM before he died...imagine the music they would have created...

I rate Soundgarden, Alice in Chains (Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell are the most underated musicians of all time) and Sonic Youth ahead of Metallica.

I prefer Audioslave to Soundgarden (although you cant really compare them)

PJ's albums rock......Fav's Ten, VS and Riot Act. Vedder is awsome. Annoying voice>? i think some of you have mistaken him for Scott Stapp.

With a name like 'lovebuzz' id think u would be a really big nirvana fan?

I am....was there anything in my post to suggest otherwise?

i said that they were the best. then PJ who are also awsome.

Kurts Boys, the other 2 are still cool though, i loved Screaming Trees just off of 2 songs(I nearly lost you there and Shadow of the season) and Alice In Chains(for Rooster alone) plus i also enjoy denying the existence of nu Rock/Metal!!

I like all 3 bands.
Hard to pick the best though.

Depends what mood I'm in.
Pearl Jams 10 is one of my favourite albums as is Ride the Lightning- Metalica and Nevermind- Nirvana.
And Justice for All has some great music on it also.

I went for Pearl Jam. I like Vedder's voice :) .
