What's with the Town of Vic Park wanting to tear down the grandstand? Wouldn't it be better to strengthen the local club rather than weaken it?
I believe after consultation with some Vic Park councilors who have been "educated" on how well utilised the Lathlain Park facility is and it's improtance to the Perth FC and local community, those plans have been put to bed for now but it's always a possibility of being on the agenda whenever 1 or more councilors or a group of local residents have "other ideas".

At least I can have my say as a rate payer in the Town of Vic Pk ;)

Finally a win by the boys against East Freo on the weekend. Their first quarter was awesome, winning plenty of centre square clearances and much more cleaner with their disposals.

Yep they are building up nicely Docker Clint. There were some good signs on Saturday. Do you go out to the huddles? What do you think of Jarmans addresses to the players compared to the last coach, day and night?? And oh by the way, who do you think was there having a look on Saturday?

Mathew Moody is starting to show his class, Jones and Zucconi were impressive in their first league run and the young kids are showing us they can play at this level.

This is my first year at the club so I cant compare with what the last coach was like. ANJ's an interesting character, I had been prepared for what he's like as I'm originally from Adelaide and have had dealings with him before, it's certainly interesting when he's throwing in comedy stylings as part of his talk to the players.

Who was out there having a look?

The last coach, Simon Eastaugh! I don't think he got too close but I saw him up near the entrance.

You're not the new runner are you? PM me if you don't want to answer that one publicly.

A couple of chuckles came when he said "Eyes on Papa Bear" and "I think Uncle Muzza would even be f....... happy with that if he's watching".

I thought it was good that he said about the history of the club being laziness and it has to end now.

The lads are hitting the gym tonight and I'm going down to take a look at what they're doing. I still need to learn all the players names!

No, I'm not the runner :)

The reason I asked is there's a new runner I haven't recognised and someone told me he's a mate of Jarmans from SA.

Yes I agree I liked that fact he touched on the culture of the club about not giving up leads when we are in control and letting opposition running over the top of us. The players have to get tougher and he recognizes that. I guess that had the desired effect, EF came at us in the last qtr but the boys withstood the challenge and notched up a win.

Speaking of young guns Fiegert,Welburn and Mather would have to be unlucky not to get a start in the first game for us, Jars will have a headache on selection night.

Pretty impressive I thought.

One thing is for sure, he is very very good for promoting the club he's at.

Although I'm pretty concerned at his promise to run naked around Lathlain if they don't make the finals. I think it's time to make sure the sunnies are packed at the end of the year ;)

Gidday fellow demon supporters... just a few quick items.

Ben Power isn't related to Matt Power.

Whilst on the talls, I think I heard somewhere that Connolly has had hip surgery and won't be available for the start of the season. I would expect Jarman will demand he and any other AFL listed player will be selected on performance & merit - unlike last year.

I've also heard that Jars rates Peedle pretty highly so I would assume he'll get his opportunity & share ruck duties - probably with Krueger & Sullivan. Ideally Krueger might be able to play most of his game-time in the forward line as he has looked impressive & injury-free.

Aaron Zucconi was a welcome return at full-back last Saturday. Hopefully Dick & him can hold down the key defensive positions.

I'll make a statement now - Dean Dick is the best kick in the club :)

Bring on the season!!

I wondered what happened to Connelly because he hasn't played for Perth at all during pre season and hadn't seen him mentioned for Freo either.

Yes Dick has been very impressive and his kicks are like tracer bullets, and over distance too. I just hope he doesn't break down, he limped off in the last qtr of the last scratch match and had ice on the back of his knee after the game.

I will wait until I see more of him under match conditions before I rate him the best kick at the club. K-T, Jones, Young and Lang are all fine exponents of the drop punt.

I don't recall that Clint. I heard he had some back related hamstring problems during pre season though. Do you know how Dick is travelling? He came off in the last qtr of the EF game and had ice on the back of the knee afterwards.

Jones took a kick then looked a bit proppy for a while and came off the ground. Had some work done on it.

Not sure about Dick, can find out.

One word summary: soft.
I would make that mentally soft, 34 points up with 10 minutes to go and Peel get up and win, i believe we have the cattle but the losing culture is still there Jarman needs to weed this out of our team quickly.
Having said that i have underestimated Peel they will win their fair share of games i think they would be quick to admit they got out of jail today.

Ok, if I had a two word summary it would be mentally soft. Some promising signs though and they could've had the game wrapped up. Physically, yes they were tough.

Krueger was good today, took some telling grabs. Cookie was as good as ever. Liked Tim Ruffles' game, very silky skills.

We're not gone but losses like that usually make sides more mentally fragile, will be interesting if Jarman can counter this. He keeps talking about past sides at the club being fragile and it's time to start a new culture. I thought he was going to burst a blood vessel at half time.

Dick broke his hand on the weekend.
What the F...? I presume not in the game unless it happened very late. I remember him trying to intercept the ball across half forward but he fumbled it. Did he have an accident on the weekend? How serious is it Clint and how long will he be out for?
